HELP!! MORE PROBLEMS! car redlines at 4700 WTF?!
so i just finished putting my motor in my car. it is a used motor and ran fine before now. Obd2 GSR motor with obd2 wiring harness in a 1995 DX hatch. running an OBD1 p72 ECU.
the only wiring ive had to do - i wired up VTEC - pretty sure i did this right.
i also had to fix a couple plugs on the wiring harness because they had broken off. both of these applications were done clean and right with solder and shrink wrap.
i started the car up (no exhaust) and it idles at about 950 (1400 if i use my p30 ecu). Everything sounds fine, nothing is leaking, so i decide to drive around the block. i wasnt getting on it right away cause i had to get down to a street where i could punch it. When i got to the end of the street i punched it. it sounds like vtec is engauging at like 3300 rpms. i say VTEC because the tone seems to change and it starts to pull back a little harder. staying on the throttle, when i hit 4700 it redlines - you know pops and **** like when you hit rev limiter. WTF?!?
I checked my codes and im getting a 23 and a 41. ANYONE HAVE IDEAS?!?
Is my car running in safe mode?
On another note - my car says its overheating, but its not my gauge on the dash is fucked up - i think. Could this cause this?!?

code 23 will be your knock sensor... 41 is o2 sensor and some people say knock sensor CEL will disable the vtec from poping.. and code 41 is easy..simply replaced first o2 sensor and about the rev limit redline..u ever try to replace with another ecu besides p30 ? if u can try on a chipped p28 ecu

id say its the dizzy mine did the same thing one time... i replaced it and everyhitng i ended up takin it to a shop and they had to fix the wiring and a new cap and rotor i think

Im thinkin that it's ur o2 sensor...... that happened to my em2, but a possibility that ur car is on limp mode..... does it not go past 4k rpm????
