Help on a mini me?!?!?
Hey guys/gals new to your forums been browsing them for quite some time now never thought i would have to register. I have one problem with this mini me setup i have build for some reason i cannot get vtec to work. It is a d15b1 block with a d16y8 head i have never really messed with these single cams before Im actually pretty tech savy i am pulling a code for the vtec solenoid and pressure switch. I have tried replacing these with no suck luck still. When doing the build i followed the whole manuel i was using to a T i removed the oil jet from the d15 block as stated in the manuel and left the jet in the d16y8 head. Some suggestions would be nice if you need more info just ask thanks for your time.

It's a 94 ex originally came with a 1.6 vtec the kid totally trashed it got a good deal on this 1.5 block and vtec head only gave 200 bucks for everything the only reason i went ahead and done this mini me or else i would have just went back with the original 1.6 vtec but im having a feeling i would have ran into the vtec issues with that motor also if i would have installed it.

are you getting any cels? ..
grounds are nice and solid?
what ecu are you running?
check the harness for broken wires from the switch all the way to the ecu?

Re: Help on a mini me?!?!?
take and unplug the vtec solenoid and put a wire to the pin on the inside of there(to the one to the solenoid) then touch that wire to the positive side on the battery and see if you hear a click. If you do hear the click then the solenoid is fine and it's just the wiring somewhere, but if it doesn't click then change out the solenoid and pressure switch. but since you have checked the ecu, then you may have gotten a bad solenoid and pressure switch. also have you checked your oil? I know low oil level could set off the pressure switch code, but it shouldn't have an effect on the solenoid.

Also, did you check to make sure you have your ground connected for the solenoid? on the Vtec engine harness where the pressure switch plugs there should be the ground also to bolt up.
