Default help with mini me

my motor in my del sol is starting to knock so i went and bought a d15b7 motor and i am going to do a minime i have dont the jdm d15 with the d16 head and i have done the ls/vtec but never the minime so i was wondering if i just bolt the head on the d15 and everything will work the vtec will get the proper amount of oil and everything or do i have to run a line like the ls/vtec setup any help will be appreciated

your del sol is a si? just to clear it up you current motor is a d16z6? and you want to put a d15 bottom end on it?

yes it is a si so it has the d16z6 in it i am just going to put the bottom end in in

dont you have too remove that oil plug on the block also for the sohc vtec swap

i never heard of ne1 having to feed oil to the vtec on a mini me swap before like the ls.. pull the head off the d15 and see if it has a oil passage to he head..

i have heard the same thing that is why i am asking this before i do it so i dont just put the head on and the v-tec dont get enough oil and i have to pull the head back off

where would the oil passage be on the block of the d15

ok do this.. compare the d16 head gasket to the d15..

if they both have the same holes your are good.

if there is a hole some where on the d16 headgasket thats not on the d15 that might be the oil feed.. make sure there is a hole on the block (you are going to use a d16 head gasket) get it?

yea i am going to buy a d16 headgasket from honda just so i have no problem with the head gasket but that post you gave me for the swap said nothing about having to drill a hole for a oil feed so it might not but i am not sure i have time to research everything i am not going to pull my motor till next weekend

there can;t be to many hole on the head just make sure they line up with a hole on the block..

yeah tyler u just gotta take out a plug on the towards the back/middle of the block. and just bolt on the head. i recomend using the d16y8 head gasket because its metal.

thats all you gotta do to make the vtec work

and remove the middle lay of gasket to increase comp!

yea i am putting the ex timing belt and everything from the d16z6

and i dont have my 95 hatch no more i acutally traded it for a 93 si hatch with a built jdm b16 and then sold it and bought a del sol now big mistake i miss my hatch

Yeah, just slap the head on.

Make sure you remove the oil plug out of the block, then it'll get the right amount of oil (just wedge a screw driver and it pops right out).

You can wire it up for VTEC directly to the ECU or use an Ex/Si wiring harness.

And you'll be ready to roll, should be pretty straight forward.

ok so i removed the head off the d15 motor and i see the plug in the middle of the block at the back between the number 2 and 3 cyclinder i just remove it and put the head back on and i alreay have everything from the ex because the del sol is a si so it has the d16z6 already in it and i am going to buy the d16y8 headgasket from honda or should i buy the d16z6 headgasket or does it matter
