Default Help me trouble shoot my civic

I bought a 93 cx last night, the people i bought it from had absolutley no clue about cars mechanically wise. They told me that they just had a new head put on the car, because it was overheating, and also put in a new thermostat. The figured the head job wasnt done right and sold it to me like that. So, heres the problem. I start up the car, let it get to normal temperature, and when i give it throttle, the radiator just pumps coolant into the overflow bottle, instead of into the motor, and the hose that goes from the radiator to the motor is cold. The motor has no signs of having a bad head (no coolant in oil, no abnormal smoke, runs mint!) Is there a chance that the radiator is clogged, what do you think it is?

TIA

hmm you said the rad hose that goes to the motor is cold right?

is that the top hose?

if the top hose is still cold after the motor is at normal operating temp then i would think the thermostat isnt opening

correct me if im wrong

Im checking the thermostat right now, its the hose thats on the back side of the motor where the coolant enters the motor.

Nope.

Coolant is pressurized so the boiling point is higher than water heated on the stove.

Run the car till it gets hot and check the radiator for "cold spots" areas where coolant is not getting filtered.

Well, after i let the car run for 10mins. the whole radiator is still cold, and when i give it throttle coolant blows into the overflow bottle. I emptied the coolant from the radiator right after i had it running for 10 minutes and it was cold Does this sound like it could be the head/H.G. or radiator?
