HELP... I messed up!!
Alright I just messed up my EK hatch harness going to the door. I broke one of the wires(right at the connector point) going to the connector which connects to the other connector on the door. Is there anyway I can "re-pin" this wire into the socket? Or do I have to wire an external wire for that particular wire circuit?

pop out the wire.... use some plyers to pull apart the little metal clip the wire goes into, AFTER removing it from the plug, use a pin to do this. and sodler the wire back into this peice. or just solder it in the first place, to the extra wire. i fyoru careful you can pop those wires out w/ a pin i usually use a smalllll screw driver. one of those black tip silver handle ones you get for computers. should work for you(im an EF guy)

Damn I fucked the pin up. Its all over. The damn pin is jammed permanently inside. I have routed a another wire outside of the harness. I plan to remove this stupid pin **** and drill a hole out of the connector at both ends and just crimp the wires together. Much easier solving problems than having the stupid conenctor crap.

yeah you can do that, or just go to a salvage yard and pick up a new/used harness.

There are very few EK hatches in my area and finding the harness is going to be hard. Unless the 4 doors use the same harness. I tried searching hondaautomotiveparts.com and it seems they don't sell the harness. I did come across a page on the site which had a few connectors listed.

hey gary....put a male/female connection in there. put like a female spade on one side and a male on the other (both insulated of course) this way if i ever have to service in that area or take it out u r not cutting the wire and then reattaching it every time u get in there

jz98ctr, I was thinking of changing out the entire harness converting it all to spade connectors. Is that crazy? I can't stand the sight of the wire going through my door panel instead of the harness hole. I was planning to drill out the entire connector in the center and pulling the wires through it and reattaching them with spade connectors.

you could but why...try to reroute the wires and just fix the damaged ones to keep it simple...but if you wanna get a new harness...your call...either way...gitturdun

The whole thing started with a wiring guy who was too lazy to pull through a pair of wires for the actuator for the door lock. He just pulled out the rubber harness end at the engine side and pulled the wires through and stuffed the wires through the door panel to the actuator. the rubber harness at the engine end was left dangling. Well I tried to make it neater by pulling the wires through the wire harness so that I can place the rubber harness at the engine end back. The space is so tight that its impossible to do it without removing the fender. In my lazy attempt without removing the fender(bumper, lights, side skirts all have to come off), I struggled with that small constrained space and resulted in this wire snapping. Now I dont even know how this harness runs to the engine compartment to the door. I can't see the wire ends at the engine. Its difficult to explain it in words here.
Anyway I searched hondautomotiveparts.com and it seems there's no spare part listed for this harness.

alright check it out...i've been working on stereo's for about 12 years and into honda's for about 8
i always found the harness on civic's a little tight(especially running 2 pair of 14 gauge speaker wire thru the stock grommets for stereo work).at the factory, if i'm not mistaken, they bolt the door on and then run the wires into the dash from the door....it's definitely a tight squeeze but it can be done. if you drop the underdash )like you would do to do an alarm...you should be able to access all sides of the fuse box. i'm pretty sure on mine there is a green molex plug that plugs into the fuse box that comes from the door and is the major connection from the door harness into the vehicle. I'm pretty sure there are no wires running from the door into the fender so there should be no reason to pull ur fenders unless u have blinkers on ur mirrors

usually i'd pull the door panel first and get it down to just the harness and plastic moisture barrier. ater the panel's off you can see how the wires have been routed from factory. i'm pretty sure they wire up the door and just pass that harness thru the door jamb and plug 1 plug into fuse box. if you can trace which plug this is you can unplug it and route it back thru it's hole in the door jamb and then pull it thru the hole where the speaker is so you can repair it

Cool ****. I'm still trying to find a reason to my pump not priming loud when I turn the key. It primed real loud after I washed my car today. Any idea which ground point will be prone to getting wet after a wash?
