Today, we had a freak snow storm, there hasn't been snow here for weeks. I was on my way home and I was going about 40km/h and went to make a turn and slide into a curb. I had just put my TSW Flys on last week. They were mint. Now I have curb rash on them. My drivers side wheel is straight and my passenger side wheel is pointed outward. I took it for a small ride when the roads were dry and when you get to about 40 km/h, if you let go of the wheel, it totally spins towards the curb. I just want some opinions whether I bent something or I just need an alignment. I am FLAT broke right now, so I just would like an idea of where you guys think I stand. Thanks for your opinions.

100% sure you alignment is off. Only sure to find out if you bend of broke anythink is to jack the car up and take a look under.

Thanks I hope that is all I need. My drivers side rim is tucked under the fender and the passenger side is sticking out of the fender on the top about an inch and looks like this /.

most likely, bent lower control arm and possible bent subframe. sometimes if it was bad enough i have seen the upper control arms and their mounts bent. as long as your front wheels have no massive amounts of toe in or out your steering rack and tie rods should be good. depending on how severe your passenger wheel is (no bent suspension parts) you might be able to get away with just an alignment.. worst comes to worst assuming you did the labor yourself you still really arent out much money (junk yard parts). good luck to you!

I took my car to Midas today. I am flat broke and my roommate has a buddy there that owed him a favour, so he put the car on a hoist and he could not tell if anything was bent. He said it was hard to tell by eye cause the car is lowered. I guess he just doesn't have that much experience with lowered cars or whatever?? Anyways, he did a quick alignment by eye for free. He said the only way to tell is if he puts it on the alignment computer and see how bad it is. After he did this, it drove a bit better, but still pulls to the curb. And when I hit the brakes I can feel it pulsating. So I guess I am going to have to bring it there tomorrow and have him do a proper alignment. hanks for all your input guys. Much respect to you all.

yeah just take it back to do a proper alignment, should be better... when i was forced off the road here in crazy vegas... i hit a curb pretty hard and bent my passenger side rims(fat fives) my rotor cracked in half(causing pulsating when braking) and both my axles gave out five days later ... but yeah just check everything that doesnt look right or wierd gl man

OK, I got alignment today, and the guy said that my drivers side was out of whack when it was the passenger side that hit the curb?? My camber is .69 degrees on the passenger side and -1.45 degrees on the drivers side. Now, my question is the guy classified my civic as a 96-00 because it was built 09/95. I tried to explain to him that a 95 and 96 Civic is totally different and the body style changed in 96. Could this be why the alignment test results are off? Thanks in advance.

-1.45 for the left front is normal for a lowered car without camber kits, the right side is bent for sure
maybe your knuckle and/or lower control arm. Also it doesn't matter if he put a 96 civic because
your actual measurements are still off.

i hit a curb last winter too. pretty bad. snapped control arm, busted lower tie rod and ball joint. cost me like 50 to fix it myself.

Done this, bent front passenger control arm, and wahcked up ym rear end bad...was a long sweeping corner in the rain. Wasnt speeding either, just slide out on me...: /
