Need some help i got a 92 swapped hatch with a gsr motor and tranny. Earlier today car was running as normal. Shifted through 1-5 , 2nd gear has grind, and reverse was impossible to find. This is how it has been since I had it. The rear motor mount never had a bolt in it so me and my dad jacked the car up, lined engine up with bracket and threw the bolt in there. This is the bracket next to the oil breather canister.
I went to go get some syncromesh tranny fluid, and came back and put it in and dropped the car. While I was gone my dad told me he pushed the bitch pin in a little further and used c clamp vise grips in the process.
I believe the car was in 1st or neutral when he was doing this.
Went for a test drive 1st and 2nd felt fine then when I went for third IT WAS GONE. Same with fourth! Completely! Whereas before it would go into third and fourth so smooth. I NEED HELP. it goes into 5th the same and now has reverse. We took out the rear mount bolt hoping that the height of the engine was the culprit but no still same problem.
So did my dad possibly bend or break one of the shift forks?
Could it be something else, suggestions?
Any advice would help thanks

When you put it in 3r an 4th, does it feel like its in 3rd an 4th with the ****? or can you move the shifter side to side? If you can move the **** around when its suppose to be in 3rd an 4th, you probably meesed up the shift linkage where it attaches to the tranny.

No the shift lever does not move forward into third or backwards into reverse, it feels like there's a piece of metal in the way. Almost as if what was blocking reverse before slid over and is now preventing third and fourth from engaging. Possible the fluid change caused piece of metal to drift over? suggestions please

Maybe it's because you used GM tranny fluid?

Best case is that the shifter linkage is not lined up correctly with the tranmission. I lost reverse due to wheel hop at the strip one night. Felt the same way; when I tried to put it into reverse, it felt like I was hitting a solid wall. Bet money that the tranny is trashed for some reason or another.

linkage is correct , im familiar with linkage, but found out that the rear engine mount bracket never had a bolt in it to attatch it to the back of the block , and the lower portion of the t bracket wasn't even tight. So yea the wheel hop was bad before due to this bracket not being hooked up. But yea one of the shifting forks broke IMO. Anyone in ohio or western pa good at rebuilding these?

Im having the same problem but i replaced the input shaft bearing and i put it all back together then i tried to put it in 3rd and it wouldn't go in or 4th it felt like there was a wall. plz help! and 1st, 2nd and 5th and reverse all work and go in smooth
