Help on engine problem?
Hi, I have a 94 honda civic ex coupe automatic its all stock with d16z6, I recently replace the dizzy and it ran perfect. Its been a month now the motor started act funny when its warmed up, if u open the throttle in P really quick it hesistates then picks up rev. and if your in D and hold the brake down the motor will have a quick shake then idle normal again, but if your in P and let it idle its perfect nothing wrong. I have swap out a new dizzy with new cap and rotor, check the spark plugs. check the belt timing, swap in another map sensor. No check lights. Any idea's ? Iam aiming at the fuel system next ? Thanks

perfectly normal hesitation especially because of altitude and higher mileage (not both at same time necessarily)

thats because you are putting a slight amount of pressure on the engine so it bogs a bit then regains itself. kinda like if you were standing on one leg and i would hit the back of your knee that you are standing on.

because the tranny is not engaged to the engine to put the slight pressure stated above on the engine
all are perfectly normal. no worries for you today

Hmm I understand what you meant with the pressure, but I for sure even high mileage d16z6 shouldnt be hesitating, because i have a si with 250k rev's up fine no hesitating hmm i should do a compression test on the engine any idea's?? Thanks

As long as you don't take any of Civictildeaths advice, you will be just fine.

on the throttle responce, try cleaning your throttle body with some carb./brake clean and a small soft or wire bristle brush. if not that, could be your tps. the shake in D. does it shake bad in the cabin? if so check your motor mounts and trans. mount. Check for cracks, if any i'd replace them all. The slight drop in idle is normal from the load of the trans. like dude said. good luck

Re: Help on engine problem? (95DxSi-R2)
Yeah i tried that already cleaing the TB and the IAC with some air intake cleaner, Hmm might be the TP not to sure got to check that tomorrow, on the motor shake its not normal i can tell that for sure mounts are very health no cracks or rips. So by best guess is check the fuel system,tp or the EVAP system Any idea's thanks
