Okay these past few days there have been floods everywhere, I don't know if this has any relevence to what happened but just in case I thought I would mention it. The car went through puddles at least 7 inches deep and came out with no problem, then parked for 10 min, left again with no problems. Then after being parked for an hour my bf drove barely 100 ft and the clutch pedal stood down and smoke starting coming out from under the hood. When he looked under the hood the area by the firewall was lit up like the cherry on a cigarette and the middle burst and caught on fire.

Can anyone explain to me what happened and what may have been the cause of it ?
Around how much it would be to fix, ect..
