my car is a 95 civic with b16 and LS tranny (was supposed to be a gsr tranny but i got ripped off by MMR in college park and they wont exchange trannys)... car has run fine for 3 months after swap and now 5th gear will pop out of gear doesnt do it all the time but i hav no clue what may hav caused this or what to look for to fix this any help is apreciated

I would say check the linkage and your shift fork. It is either something like that or, worst case, your syncros are going bad.

thanx... dont mean to sound like a newbie but wheres the "shift fork" i did the motor swap myself and used new integra shift linkage... is the shift fork one of the 2 shift linkages???

Well if the linkage is new that shouldn't be the problem. Are any of you gears grinding? If yes then it could be the syncros, but I am not sure, my old mazda did that once and never did it again. But I am leaning toward the syncros.

No it's not, it's inside the transmission. Before jumping to any conclusions, you may want to simply flush and fill your transmission fluid. A buddy of mine recently had this same problem and it turned out that his casing had a small crack (and thus leak) in it, and he had hemorrhaged enough transmission fluid to cause it to pop out of fifth gear.

no gears are grinding thats the funny thing it just happened this tuesday once and didnt do it again till today and 5th is the only gear that pops out.. i would think 2nd gear would go b4 fifth.. ill check for leaks thats most likely it i would think... thanx for all the advice

it was the axle seals $24 at honda and an afternoon of workin on the car fixed the problem
