Heeeelp! My B16 swap is getting worse by the day.
Hey I have a 1997 civic hatch with a b16a swap. the engine recently started acting up and i have no idea what could be wrong with it. for starters..the idle is all over the place, kinda like bogging out. Also when i give steady pressure to the gas it starts bogging out, but the check engine light will only turn on sometimes...as soon as i turn the car off and back on the check engine goes away. Also when the check engine light is on, vtec isnt working. Now..a few things i am confused about. 1. I am running a 1995 GSR on a SiRII engine..but i thought that if you had a 1995 GSR comp that you only had one 02 sensor?? I have two o2 sensors and am i thinking maybe one of them went bad or something. I also bought a new holley fuel pump..i am really hoping that one of these two things can fix my car..but if you have any suggestions of help PLEASE POST I NEED AS MUCH HELP AS POSSIBLE..
And if anyone has an 02 sensor for sale..tell me..cheapest i found is like 250 dollars..i dont have that kinda money to spend right now..but if i have to i will.

Why are you running a GSR ECU?? You are using a OBD2 to OBD1 jumper right? Get a OBD2 P30 (b16 ecu) and see if that fixes it.

i dont think that the ecu is the problem..i was running a obd2 ecu at first and it ran shitty..it ran perfect with the gsr ecu for a month..just started acting up the other day

i think you are having some OBD2-> OBD1 issues
for starters use a P28 chipped with the P30 maps or use the P30 ecu
might want to consider doing the OBD2-> OBD1 conversion

Did you hook everything up correctly. Checked timing, and all the other BS? Really this is getting old. There are like a million thread about this.

Re: (ABK)
man dont listen to this asshat, it took him 2 weeks for a d swap... I dunno if you were driving around for a while like this or not, if you just swapped it then do this
a. check the plugs on intake mani, many are the same and will clip into each others places but dont work unless in correct spot.
b. check basic stuff, your plugs, plug gaps, wires, and cap, all or any can be broken and can cause problems. The on and off engine light seems like you might be getting occasional bad spark.
if the swap is done a while ago and youve been driving on it for a while with no problems then try checking the same as b. up there, and also your o2 up front should be the only one that has to funtion if your running an obd1 ecu, so swap your O2 sensors and see if that helps, if not it atleast eliminates the problem.
try and see what code its throwing, that helps diagnose the problem a lot easier

Eat **** bitch I had to prep the motor, plus I only got a motor 2 days before it went into the car. Plus I had to source parts from all over the place because the dude was short on money.

not sure if "HONDA" is the best place to go for a swapped car. But its ur call... Just knowing from experience some of those techs can just suck my left nut. Just depends on who you are talking to and who is working at the shop I guess... good luck... still think you might want to work out ur electrical issues (i.e. OBD issues and ECU)
