Heat problem on D16Z6 EG5
Hi I hope you can help me...
I'm running a 95' Civic Turbo, but for the past couple of month it have used alot of water...
Then i found out that there was a O-gasket missing in the cap for the cooler. Therefore it could'nt hold pressure and boiled the water instead... After I changed it it _almost_ stopped using water...
I can drive like 50 miles easy with MAX. 4500 rpm, but if i go any higher than that for just 30sec, it will start getting warmer and warmer, just going up and down on the temp. gauge...??
We have changed coolers
Chanced thermostat (the heating regulator, don't know what it's called)
It's not drypping any cooling water
There is no gas in the water
We have put pressure on the cylinders, and it seems to hold it fine
I have put on a brand new water pump
But nothing is helping ?? I don't know if it is the headgasket that is fucked ?? Cause it ain't blowing white smoke from the exhaust or the usual "syndroms" when it's blown...
I really hope you can help me... A honda is kinda lame driving under 4500rpm
Sorry for my writing i'm from Denmark...

It sounds like your headgasket is done and you are getting headlift.
My suggestion would be to order a set of ARP headstuds for your motor and get a new headgasket. Get the head checked for warpage and then install the ARPs and a new headgasket.

I doubt the cooler is too small. What sized turbo/boost/hp numbers are you putting down?
Headstuds are like bolts that hold the head onto the block. You know when you pull those bolts out of the head to take the head off or change a headgasket? Those are headbolts. The ARP headstuds are much stronger and don't stretch like the stock ones. They're a very good investment.
By the way, you english is very good.

I don't know if the cooler is the same size in US, but here in europe it's smaller than the doch vti, it's the same size as all the 90hp models.
I was just wondering, because if the i/c is blocking for all the cold air, and the cooler is sitting right next to the header, it would only get warm air or something :- )
Hmm numbers we don't talk about... I bought it with the turbo setup. But with 0,5 bar (psi ?!) it's doing 193,7hp, but it has a leakage somewhere in the turbo so it's only running 0,25 atm. It's a T25.
Thanks for the props, i'm working in a transport company so i talk english every day

Hmm. .5bar is roughly 7-8psi. T25 is a farily small turbo and only running about 3-4psi (.25 bar) shouldn't cause it to need a bigger cooler.
I personally think you may have a warped head/blown headgasket.
Has the car ever overheated? If so there's a good chance the head is warped.
The best thing to do is:
-Order a set of ARP headstuds
-Get the head checked & leveled
-Get a new headgasket and put it on
90% of the time ARPs and a headgasket will fix over-heating problems.
