Default Headers cat and catback diameter questions

So ive got a few questions about headers, cat, and catback. Im going to be getting some headers and catback to throw on the car, and was wondering about the stock cat. So first question, What is the inlet size and outlet size on the stock cat? (I think the inlet is 2.25) Secondly my car is going to be pretty lightly modded (ihe, a little valvetrain) so ill be making less then 200 whp of course. Taking this into regard, what kind of size header collector should i be aiming for? 2.25 or jdm 2.5? Lastly, If i decide to go with either 2.25 or 2.5, which catbacks (with the same respective size) should I purchase? Its very hard to find 2.25 and 2.5 diameter catbacks because the majority are 2.36. (Which leads me to believe the outlet on the cat is 2.36)

Oh for additional info, my intake (injen cai) is 3 inches diameter. I know that the hp difference is pretty insignificant from application to application, but Im the kind of person that wants to get near perfection. Haha anyways thanks

Man dude, I'd never live in CA!! lol I havnt had a Cat on my car since Ive had it! Too bad yall have to pass a gay emissions test everyso often.

Some ebay "cats"(which really arent cats) have a 2.5" in and out. Could run one of them and 2.5 exhaust but if it was me, I would keep me factory exhaust, especially the cat, Run a test pipe, or have one made, and run 2.5 all the way out. Then test time rolls around, throw the old stuff back on. If youre plannin on running a hytech ***** header, make sure you get the extesion pipe w it and the will be the easiest way to upgrade your whole sys. Just got done puttin a ***** header and 2.5 piping all the way out. I bought ebay cat-back, chopped the coffee can off to put my es oval, and just had the catback part extended out to meet up w the pipe comming off the extesion pc from the header. Its all stainless steel mandrel bent tubing so you cant go wrong w going ebay cheap! lol

if you go to big with your exuast you will be losing bottom end power! so if you live on a hill like me and you like to get up it quick than stay with 2.25 pipes and like someone else already said ebay is cool for pipes and cheap! i got the whole exuast 2.25 inche all the way with the ***** header for 250 or less

Are you concerned about CARB exemption?

If not, and if you're on a budget, I'd suggest going with one of the Tri-Y replica headers, a 2.5" high-flow cat, and the exhaust of your choice (you'll need to shorten the B-pipe slightly to accommodate the header).

No im not worried about carb, this is just temp bolt ons before i turbo my car.

So does anybody know what the stock cat inlet and outlet sizes are? And also, does the catback just bolt onto the cat without any modifications if the sizes are different?

Yea, im glad pawadan knows what the ***** header im talking about. Its a hytec replica that costs 350 shipped and 400 shipped for a Ti coated one. The are about the best bang for your buck. Look in the fo sale forum in the main page. and yea, the ***** header(Hytech Replica) is WAY better than a meagan. It outperformed my Type r 4-1 header on the dyno. And ebay is the best plasce to get the piping
