Head Studs vs. Head bolts?
as stated in the topic what is the difference between the two? Do the head studs have bolts that you put on while the headbolts already have them attached at the end? I had a shop install some arp's i dont remember which one and now i want to put my new cometic head gasket on and was wondering what would be easier? It seems with the studs you need to take the entire head off but with the head bolts you could just pull it up enough that you could take the old gasket out and put the new gasket in without taking the entire head off. Am i right or wrong with my assumption here, thanks

Studs are better than bolts. Having head studs gives you a more accurate torqe reading so you do not over torqe the head. and they are stronger than head bolts.
The head bolts are put in using a allan head i believe. But the good thing about studs is that they can be reused. ive learned from experience that reusing headbolts isnt really a good idea since they are heated and stretched so much within the engine. Honda recomends that you do not reuse head bolts.
