no oil in the coolent... its just that when i go on long drives for example when im on the freeway and when i get off and i check my reservoir its full all the way to the cap, and i look in my radiator and there's no coolent in it...i changed everything...water pump, thermostate, radiator, timing belt and all other belts.and its still overheating when it idles only after a long drive or if i run it hard...thankx for the posts

cliff notes: try another thermostat, check actual temp, and if all else fails, get a new temp sensor.

Re: head gasket test (projectM)
if the water is going into your reserve, but not going back into the radiator then it sounds like you have a bad radiator cap. The caps sounds like it's letting the water go to the reserve when riding, but not letting it back into the radiator when you slow down... It's pretty cheap for the cap and you might want to try that. Also I would stay away from autozone thermostat if that's what you got in your car because they tend not to work quite as well on honda car.

Re: head gasket test (projectM)
does your radiator fan turn on? i don't think it's your headgasket since you're not losing any coolant, just going into the reservoir. try a diff. radiator cap?

preasure test ur cooling system and see were ur loosing the fluid..sometimes the leak is so small that a normal test won t detect it
on my son s earyly model accord the dealer and speedy could nt find the leak thru normal testing..finally a radiator took the test to the limit ..let the car warm up real hot then pump d that tester to the max..and then thats when the steam start d fly..a very small leak was the problem

borrow someones cap and see. so if your fans turn on, then your thermostat is working but you're still overheating? is the radiator still good?

Re: head gasket test (tominos)
it sounds like a lot like the radiator cap. Even mugen makes defective parts from time to time so you might want to tried a different cap just to make sure the mugen one is not defective.

Re: head gasket test (Chiovnidca)
NAPA auto parts stores sell a test kit that can be used to detect blown head gaskets. I believe it costs about $25-$30.
You remove the radiator cap and connect what I think is a balloon-like gadget. It has a chemical solution that turns a given color if compression is finding it's way into the coolant.
Contact your local NAPA parts house for more details.

Re: head gasket test (lsvtecracer)
im having a very similar problem. ARGH. Except mine is flowing into the over flow like it should, but not coming back in to the radiator. Which means that there has to be a leak of somesort. UGh.
