Default Head gasket leaking coolant.

Well, for the past 2 weeks, ever since a thermostat replacement, my coolant has been running fromt he head gasket down the tranmission (manual). I saw it again today but it comes and goes. 95% of the time there is no sign of leaking, then all of a sudden it pours out and runs down the trany.

The problem is this: If it's a headgasket leak, shouldn't I be noticing other symptoms? I don't see white smoke, no white ring around gas cap, no sign of contamination on dip stick (or under valve cover), and no engine issues. The car runs great, except the fluid SEEMS to be leaking from the HG. Can this be possible?

Are you sure the coolant is coming from the head gasket? Seems more likely to come from the thermostat housing where you were working. Can you post a clear picture of the leak location?

Thanks for the simple suggestion, but I doubt it's so simple. The leak is quite obviously right under the header. There is no way the coolant could come from the t-housing and enter that area, and then move down the front of the trany.

Here is a pic of the general area the coolant seems to be leaking out of:

I aslo want to mention that I'm experiencing zero overheating issues. Rad fan turns on, thermostat is opening fine. The only thing I can think of is that when I let go of the gas suddenly, the rpm drops to a state of limbo, then goes back up normal rpm (700).

i would assume its a leak from the thermostat housing or the hose attached to that, but after looking at that picture where you THINK its coming from, i wouldn't think so.

Try doing a compression test, if the numbers are low for piston number 4 ( pistons are numbered 4 3 2 1, standing at the front of the car looking at the engine)

If the compression is fine then its just a leak

I found a couple leaks, but I still wonder if it's the HG. Still, I'm wondering if you guys can tell me where I should buy coolant hoses. Majestic Honda charges like 10 dollars for some hoses. Maybe I can find high quality hoses somewhere like Napa?
