Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
I just put in a new headlight harness and my high beams and left low beam don't work. I'm thinking its a problem under the dash, because when I tested the left plug there was only like .03 volts coming out of it and there was only .03 volts coming out of the plug to the harness too. What would you guys recommend checking under the dash for the headlights?
The first picture is the underdash wiring to the left of my steering wheel right now. Should I just rip the whole dash off and redo it?
I have no idea where the plugs go in the second picture. Do they go into the fuse box?
The third picture is the plug coming off what looks like my o2 sensor? Not sure where that is supposed to go..
Not sure whats in the fourth picture. I think its my alarm?

looks like an aftermarket alarm system. You need to find a wiring diagram for you car. I would pull the alarm and wiring, any aftermarket wiring will be absent from the wiring diagram. Most of the time it is easy but if you aren't comfortable with pulling it you can probably leave it the way it is. Start at the fuses and make sure you have power there. Some cars have separate left and right headlight fuses, don't know about yours off hand. If ALL the fuses are good follow the wiring to the next connector and test there. Keep working your way along until you loose power.

Re: Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
Did some underdash investigating today and it looks there was definitely something aftermarket in there. There is a couple plugs and some kind of relay box that someone rigged in there.
Whoever did it cut some of the wires coming off the combination switch and random plugs coming off the fuse box and even one going to the stereo system and ran them to these plugs. Anyone know what they could be for?
These are some pictures of the plugs.

Definitely an old alarm wiring harness. I know because the 2 pin plug with blue/green wires in it is for keyless
Be very careful digging around in there, you could knock something loose, and then your car may not start.
Trace the wires to wear they go, if they were added. Do so one at a time. Remove wire, fix where they were connected/spliced in.
Removing old alarm harness isn't very difficult, but can turn into a lengthy project/nightmare.

If you want I can try to help by either posting the electrical diagram for your car or private message the electrical diagram for your car which ever one you prefer. Let me know.

I've got the diagram already. Thanks for the help though. Just confused on all this aftermarket crap.

Re: Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
that looks like it is a DEI alram (python, viper, clifford, etc). the 2 wire plug (green and blue wires) goes to your door lock actuators. the 4 wire plug with the translucent box is the 508D motion sensor module for the alarm.
the red wire on the large plug is for the alarm power. it is going to a constant 12v source.
the white wire on that harness is for blinking the lights.
brown is the siren output wire
black is ground
black/wht is for dome light supervision
orange will be hooked up to any extra sensor modules they put in there.
blue goes to the trunk sensor wire
green is the the door sensor wire
hope that helps you out. Looks like it was a pretty nice alarm in there but a crappy (best buy) install

^^ He said it.
I've got a clifford alarm, so if you find a wire your unsure of, let me know. I'll check my books to see if I can figure it out.

Re: Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
Just went ahead and pulled it all out today. Everything still works fine and there is no problems that I can see. Still confused on this o2 sensor wire though. Anyone know where its supposed to plug in at?

If you run OBD2 you should have 2 of them. 1 before the cat, one after. OBD1, there will be 1 right before the cat.
The reason why I asked, if I have never seen a O2 sensor harness that is a 6pin.
Does it connect to the O2 or anything by it? If not, just yank it out. It wont do anything plugged in at one side and not the other lol

Re: Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
where does the other end of the harness go? I have seen hundreds of o2 plugs but never a factory one like that. For obd 1 there should only be 4 wires at most. Are you running a wideband or fuel management?

Re: Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
yea, that doesn't look like part of the factory wiring in any way. It looks like some accessory output from the alarm. Although i don't know of anything on an alarm that ties into the O2 system.
If its tied to your O2 sensor it may have been part of a gauge/gauge system.

If it's leading to the O2 sensor then it's either for a wideband or an A/F ratio gauge. You shouldn't have any problems removing it.

Re: Having some serious electrical problems with my EK..
That is very true.. there is also holes on my pillar and on the dash so i'm almost positive there was gauges. Didn't even think about that. I just hope the plug for my o2 sensor is still on my engine harness because my harness is pretty hacked up..
