Having problems getting my B16a to idle
Just asking if you guys could give me a little help. I just dropped in a B16a2 into my 2000 civic 4 door. Everything is running fine, but the car wont keep a stable idle. It runs for a little while, but if I dont give it any gas the car will start to die and then stall out. The battery is fine, and so is the alternator. What are some other things I should look into that would cause poor idle? Thanks!

could be many things...horrible fuel pump, bad FPR, injectors, etc. give us as much info as possible (how long before it stalls out, any odd sounds, etc) and we'll be able to better help you.

Re: Having problems getting my B16a to idle (Archidictus)
could a sensor be bad?....that would throw a cel tho
my other thought is that checking it with a air/fuel gauge would help narrow it down to if it is too rich or lean that is makin it die

first off what gen is the b16?
check the vacum houses once more... i cant remember from the top of my head which goes where....
second... did you remove the manifold before? this makes a big deal becuase two weeks ago we put a cx motor in a crx/hf so it can pass smog and we had to convert everything back to hf parts(manifold,dist,mounts...etc...) and it would not idle at all... we later found out that the manifold was not sealed(can you blame us for not buying a new gasket for that darm 1.5L!)

Re: Having problems getting my B16a to idle (97hb)
Thanks for all your replys but unfortunatly none of them really helped. I am using my sohc fuel set up and everything is good. The car only has 30k on it (its a 2000 sedan). Before we installed my b16a2 we replaced all the seals, plugs, belts, and pullies with new oem ones. I doubt that they are causing my problem.
So far here are the results
My fuel system is clean
The ecu (p30) is throwing one code but thats because we have not wired up vtec
My vacum hoses are correctly plugged in
my spark plugs are new
and there are gaskets on the manifold
Three things i did see was that my sensors are a tad dirty and also I reused the gasket on the headers (should i have not reused it?). Also the Throttle body was damaged during shipping and we used a TB that is 2mm smaller than stock. I am gonna replace my TB and see what happens. I also have no cat on there yet (could this be it?)
If you can think of anything else throw them at me.

Re: Having problems getting my B16a to idle (Ridinlowcivic)
found out what the problem. 175,175,0,175. These were the compression numbers i got from my motor i just recieved. THis **** pisses me off because i ordered this motor back in may. I ordered an sir2 and they sent me a 1st gen b16a. I noticed it was the wrong motor and we sent it back and got another one b16a2. Not the motor i wanted but oh well. Now the compression is bad but its all good. I see ctr pistons in my new motor
