have spark and fuel but my car won't start
Ok I have a 94 with a d15b7 and I just rebuilt the motor. I know the timing is right and that it is getting spark and fuel but it won't start. The cel flashes 41 o2 sensor heater when the car cranks after a few seconds. So what can I do to figure this out? Like I said the vitals are there but the car won't start? (oh and the search won't bring anything up with this problem I am 2 days into reading) and this is initial startup the car hasn't run yet. Please help thanks guys

Compression test? Injectors plugged in? (couldn't figure out why the car wouldn't start, looked at everything again an the damn injectors were unplugged fml)

Are the injectors spraying fuel when the engine is cranked?
Is spark bright white or weak orange or blue at the plugs?
If these and the mechanical timing are good, then compression test the cylinders.

Re: have spark and fuel but my car won't start
How are you sure it is getting both fuel and spark? What is the fuel pump pressure? Have you checked the ignition with an actual spark checker or did you just pull out the plug to check? Have you checked compression? How are you sure the timing is correct? I know its a single cam but mistakes can be made.
Sorry for so many q's, just seeing where you are as far as diagnosis.

wooorrrrd! thanks for the quick replies. Comp is 150 all across fuel pump has pressure can smell gas at exaust too so the injectors are working everything is plugged in did it befor the motor was put back in and have rechecked the wiring a few times for loose ends. The spark is not a bright white its orange but wouldn't the car still start or try and fall on its face a little? And what is the fix to the spark (ignitor)? Thanks again guys

Weak spark is generally a sign of a bad coil. Resistance test it (see FAQs sticky) and replace if bad.

Inspect the coil. Most likely the coil is too weak to fire during compression, even though it does when the plug is out.

Yeah I have checked fuses and the connectors. I just did a resistence test on the coil and I think she may be out but I can't exactly remember how to calibrate my old micronta multi and my brother broke the digital one. Can I take this out and run it to autozone to test, then to dealer to buy? Oh yeah honda parts ameri...... has parts cheap too and if you are in Portland or you can pick up at dealer. just call them
EDIT: I just read that I can take it down so I will but should I take the whole dist so they can chek the ICM also. Thanks guys

Sounds like it is your dizzy, you can easily swap out the internal coil for cheap or just buy a whole new dizzy. check your local craiglist!

Re: have spark and fuel but my car won't start
Ok so put in a new coil and it fired right up with no effort. But I am getting quite a bit of valve noise so I pulled of the cover and tightened the valves but I am still getting noise. Does it usually take a bit to get them to fully seat or am I off on the belt timing by a notch? This is my next question. Wish I had an adjustable cam gear
