Re: H2B vs GSR pricing? (Mrmatt3465)
being honest, you would be a lot faster with a h22 h2b swap than with a b swap... but the thing is like a guy on here said the h2b kit is around $1000 then u have to get good mounts which are about $300 then u could get a motor for maybe $1300 then u still have to get a tranny.. but over all it would run 12's in a 1/4 mile.. but if you want to save money then a gsr swap will run low 14's but it will only save you around $500 after doing the whole swap, but it is easy on getting axles and doing the wiring.

ive been researching the idea for a friend of mine, ive been pricing it out for him to, and it comes out to a little over 3 grand, then i just figure an extra few hundred for odds and ends you find whenever you tear into a project. for a little more money then a B swap (not much mind you) you get a ton more tq.

Re: H2B vs GSR pricing? (Frickr)
yeah, that would be correct on the tons more torque, I mean honestly if I wouldn't have done the wire tuck on my Eg, then I would've loved to had a H in my car instead of my b16, I had a friend that had a H in his car stock running 13.3's in 1/4 mile, that was with full interior, it was a Dx 94 hatch, he totaled it so now he's putting the H in a 93 Si Hatch, and putting the H2b kit on it, so he said he's looking to go low or mid 12's.

From what I understand the H22 runs faster with a P72 (GSR ECU) than a P13. I got a guy local who runs a full H22 swap CRX and he ran almost a full second faster just by changing the ECU, said it felt like he added NOS just by upgrading from P13 to P72.

I don't know anybody that runs p13's around here.. Everybody I see with an H swap, put chipped p28's in there car.

that is wrong, the qsd kit comes with a driver mount bracket that you attach to the block. The evo kit comes with mounts.
To the OP here this is the h2b thread, everything about h2b's is in here lots of good info, take sometime and read through it.

I have actually read every searchable post regarding H2B swaps and general info. I'm really trying to get a clear price quote [obtained thanks to Frickr]. I believe I may go with the Evo kit. My bigger concern is hood clearance. I don't ride super dumped
Now what it comes down to is the question we all have. Smogging. I live in California so I have to get this swap Bar'd. I read a write up regarding how one member here got his H22 bar'd after hooking up his EGR etc. The biggest issue I have is running the correct ECU. What ECU is best to run when trying to Bar my civic? Would the stock p13 be better in that case and then swap out the ECU after? Can I get it bar'd with a chipped ECU? What are my options here?
The information is endless!

yo its really up to u cuz a gsr swap is like 3000 dallors or more and a h22 is like 2000 so its really up to u but i think u should s do h2b cuz everyone has a gsr motor and like lets say like 100 have a gsr civic but 30 of those people might have a h22 so yea think it over and think hard cuz h22 takes a lot also

Ok after re reading the write up on Barring an H22, I concluded that a p13 is to be used. Then I'll swap ECU's for driving x].
Now here is where things get a lil more precise.
EXACTLY what axle is MOST recommended for an H2B swap?
The motor I pick up must be of the year my car was made and newer for a chance at getting it bar'd. That leaves me with 2 choices as I have a 95 coupe. Should I try and find an h22 OBD1 made in 95 or up? Or should I just grab an OBD2 and get a jumper harness for chipped p28 fun? What seems more PRACTICAL? Remember, I'm trying to get this swap as legit as possible, with the least amount of expense. Time is not a factor, quality is.

Re: H2B vs GSR pricing? (Mrmatt3465)
well you can get an obd2 motor and put an obd1 distibutor on it and the obd1 sensors, or you can just get an obd1 motor that was made in 95..
As for axles if you're doing the h2b, then you can use any B series axles as long as they are for a hydro tranny... you'll have to get a half shaft (intermediate shaft) and everything for the b series..

Ebay has some deals I must admit. But I don't trust the quality all the time.
Does anyone know a trusted website that supplies axles perfect for this swap?

Thanks. I plan on starting in december or so. =] I'll definitely make a build thread too. I can't wait. Daily driven H2B in a white EJ1. Gonna be hawt x]
I think I should make this topic a general info topic. So people searching won't have to read. I'll rewrite my first post to include all info I have gathered. Thanks everyone!

kewl, thumbs up for another h2b build, i got mine build for $2500. 94 jdm h22a complete longblock-$800, 96 jdm b16a tranny with lsd-$450, evo kit-$1200, shift linkages-free, p13 and p28 ecu-free. more torque, more power, and feels a lot better. i take mustang v8 all day with my setup. stock motor with 3" intake, 2.5" exhaust, stock header. best part was i just ran my buddie's STI yesterday and took him about 2 cars and he ran 13.2 1/4 mile.

Sweet ride man, what you got it in?? I like the H's was going to get something bigger than my b16 but I was short on cash, i'm happy with it though(still in the swap though lol)..

Re: (Mrmatt3465)
I bought my jdm H22 longblock from a kid for $570 delivered, still attached to the pallet, lost funds and had to abandon his project.
got my place racing mounts and harness for $200 together
qsd kit was like $780
aftermarket b series clutch and lightened flywheel, $450
axles $100
halfshaft $50
shift linkage $75
ive got my parts under $2300, and shes almost ready to go in. a few more things on the car side of this swap and im done.
So lets say after misc and fluids im @ $2500, for a sweetass stock setup.

good *** deal too ming!! my H is just stock, just got the exhaust and intake, that's about it. the key to cheap stuff is be patient and look around, take your time, don't rush in a build. i've been through b16,ls, and gsr, and i would have to say they are great motor but i love the torque on the h22.
