Default H22 idle probs. need help!

im having idle probs where my h22 just wants to die. it was running on three cylinders the other day but i got that fixed, but now the idle is at like 100 and it just wants to die./ only reason the idle is even at 100 is because i turned the idle screw all the way up. car is running really rough sounds almost like a v8 at times. got the motor comp. and leakdown tested and everything was fine. changed plugs and wires, got the injectors checked out everything is fine. what could be the prob? could it be Fast Idle Thermo Valve? ive changed the tps and the map. could it be o2 or the timing? is there any way i could test to see if the fpr is bad. any help would be great thanks

It doesn't idle, but does it run fine when you rev it up? If so, check O2 sensor.

It sounds like your wire order is not right to me too.
It should be (while facing the distributor):
3 4
1 2

make sure the MAP sensor vacuum is good, all vacuum nipples are sealed up on the intake manifold, and all gaskets are sealed.

Sounds mainly like your IACV is going out. I would suggest removing the IACV, put some brake/carb cleaner on it and clean the screens on it.

Also make sure timing is in the right order like stated above.

Keep us posted

map is in good order, i have a vaccum unplugged on the back of the #1 runner of the intake manifold where the iab vaccum hooks up to, the reason for this is that the car will not idle at all if its plugged up. also the map vaccums seem to be good, timing is in order. i will remove the iacv and spray some carb cleaner in there and see what happens. anymore suggestions would be great.

What do you mean, bent intake valve?

Do you mean one of those valve stem that sticks out of the intake manifold, where you connect hoses to it?

My friend's H22 has a stem that you plug a small hose in it bent also.

This would be a break through, because my friends has been doing this for a year now. It drives fine, but it'll idle up and down sometimes and other times it'll change from 1000 to 300 rpm for no reason.

Bro, you have intake and exhaust valves. They serve seperate functions...

You mean the intak valve that's in the head? Damn, I hope mine is not that. I have an H22A4 that the idle is surging also.

my idle is not surging, it jus wants to die, you probably have a vaccum leak of some sort somehwere.

constant stalling and non idle issues are normally related to the EGR on the h22.. unplug the vacuum form the egr, and unplug the two sensors on them and reset the ecu...

That is if you even have it.. My car did the exact same thing.. Egr wasnt working right.. Its perfect now... but, no egr

H22s using a P72 I have noticed really like to have the coolant lines to the fast idle and IAC valves hooked up. One time a customers car was surging, I hooked those back up rather than having them bypassed, after about 10 seconds of coolant getting thru them the car idled mint and never had a prob again.
