As far as I know yes....my friend put on a header and punched cat on his 2001 ITR and the light comes on but it doesn't do anything. It helped a lot.

I dont know if this will help much, but I put a hi-flow catalytic converter on my car and nothing ever came on. It is pretty much a straight pipe. I dont have emissions tests here, so you might wanna watch that.

gutted cats-
test pipes-
hi flow cat that won't make you look like a fool for gaining .5HP with your gay test pipe or gutted cat and will still allow you to pass emissions tests-

Re: gutted cat??? (Jdmb18c)
Thanx for the help guys. JDMb18c how does your setup sound? I also have the ES oval and had planned on connecting it to a ITR b pipe with either a GSR or type R cat. I have the stock exhaust manifold for now. My friend has a type R gutted cat that he was just gonna give me so i just wanted to know if i should go with it. Is your setup loud because i do not want mine loud at all. Do you have any resonators on it? Thanx again guys.
