Got a Weird Civic
Hows it going everyone,
I just recently got a civic. Its kind of a weird looking one since the back looks like a 1998 but the front looks like a 1999 model. The sticker on the side of the door and registrations says 1998 honda civic. It does not mention lx, ex, etc. I guessed it was EX since it has power everything + sunroof, but the motor is not a VTEC, just a SOHC. The obvious way to tell would be to see an ex logo on the back, but it was stolen and it only has the "H" and the "Civic" logos. Is there anyway to tell through the VIN what kind of car I have? I will post pictures later.

99-00 Front end conversions are pretty popular on the 96-98 civics since they do look better. As for the motor it could be a vtec. just because it doesnt say vtec on the valve cover doesnt mean its not vtec. check the engine code it should be on the crease of the block and tranny a little flat spot will reveal the engine code.
