1997 Honda civic ex automatic
According to my mechanic my struts and bushings need replacement.
My ac makes loud clacking noise when on. its supposedly the compressor.

the reason for doubt in doing these repairs is because my transmission is leaking extremely little oil from the front left side and makes a weird metal on metal screeching noise on very sharp left turns. So im scared if i replace the minor items listed above my transmission will end up going out and will have to spend extra money instead of just letting the car die out and just getting a better one.

I have also thought about if the transmission were to go out since its automatic how much it would cost to switch to standard. As i wouldn't mind paying for a standar transmission in order to learn to drive standard.

Yeah what happens after a year? You could just run the car into the ground I suppose. This isn't an advice column -- do your own cost/benefit analysis. If you know you're only going to keep it one more year, bushings and AC shouldn't matter to you as it's not going to die on the side of the road and leave you stranded if you don't touch them. HOWEVER, that is also irresponsible ownership.

Thx for everyones response and sorry for posting on wrong area im new and forget to read as im in a rush most of the time i post.

I decided to do some serious shopping for a mechanic and they all differ but stay around the same ball park price 60-70dollar difference but different perks.
