Good springs for $400?
I'm just asking you guys this cuz you are the only ones I can trust
I want to lower my 99 Civic CX and the guy at the shop told me he could do it all for $1800 (that's with good shocks and everything).
But my brother told me that a friend of his can lower my car and everything for $400.
Is this possible? Should I trust these folks?
I want to save money but I don't want to buy crappy springs.
Thanks

go to http://www.tirerack.com . pick your self up a set of H&R or Eibach Springs for about 200 at the most. The pick up a set of nice struts KYB AGX or some Koni's. and have your friend install them. crappy springs = crappy ride. you will like the setups i just listed

Re: (JDMlifestyle)
I would go with none of the above.
$1800 is too much
$400 is not enough for any quality.
Do as said above or search around for the setup you feel is right. I personally like my H&R cup kit which was about $650.

Re: Good springs for $400? (project99HB)
umm do you know any more information on the setup he would be getting you? if the 1800 is for shocks and springs that come seperate, then that is too high, if it is a full coilover system, like tein then thats still pretty high if its the SS, plus if i were you i would buy the suspension and do the install yourself, its pretty straight foward. what exactly are you looking to do? for 400 you could lower your car but it wouldnt be very good stuff for only 400. the best setup you could do other than full coilover kit would be Koni Yellows with ground control coilovers. rides nice as hell, can go stiff as hell when your really lookin for performance and u can loosen it to almost stock ride, the ground controls give you adjustable height and come with eibach springs which are one of the best spring companys on the market. a cheaper setup that is also very nice, would be something like KYB AGX shocks with springs or ground controls. personally im riding on KYB AGX with H&R sport springs. the drop is not a lot but its all i wanted. its a 1.8 in front and 1.6 in the read. the shocks are nice with 4 way adjustability for stiffness, it rides well and is very easy to adjust. my brothers teg is riding on the Koni yellows and ground controls, if you have the money and arent lookin for like hardcore suspension then the konis and ground controls are definetly wat you should go with, rides incredible and has tons of adjustability for when u wanna just cruise and when u wanna go crazy in the turns. haha sorry i made this longer than i needed but hope ive helped ya some, not completely sure on price of the ground controls and konis, i know the ground controls are around 300 and the konis are probably about 500. somone else probably knows that better. hope ive helped. and update us when u make your decision

Re: Good springs for $400? (oneslodx)
The shocks that the guy at the shop was trying to give me were Eibachs. He said I wouldn't need anything else to lower my car so I'm assuming it was the coilovers and everything. The actual price was $1400 and he said he'd charge $400 for labor.

HAHAHAHA.
$1800 is insane. Most shops will rip you off. Research some good suspension setups, then do it yoself.

when i saw that labor cost, $400 i knew ur were getting in the butt..eibach s should be around $200 and struts/shocks another $200..not only is he giving u itb on the labor but on parts too..around here its about $60 - $80 per axle..so no more than $160 total labor..
so look for a total setup for under $700
really..this shop might be good..but he s really trying to screw u..check with the HT supporting vender s a see what the part s are really worth..i do bussiness with http://www.modacar.com ..some may even say their price s are high..but i see them as being fair and below normal on their pricing

Re: Good springs for $400? (deepnite)
$400 for labor huh? i dont think it should cost more than $180. it shouldnt take a shop 3 hours to install at
an hourly rate of $60 per this **** takes me about 2 hours without a lift. all i use is a floor jack and hand tools
sitting on my ***.
