Default Good snow tires?

What are some decent snow tires? Have Toyo proxy's mounted on my stock 13" steelies and they're horrid in snow.

Got stuck 100' from my driveway and had to dig myself out with a squeegee.

If you go to http://www.tirerack.com they have a winter tire section.. and also there's a surface rating scale thingy on the bottom of the tire descriptions.

If you can afford them, Nokian Hakkapelliita (SP?) snow tires are very good. I chose them three years ago after doing a lot of research. Haven't had much snow this season where I am, but when we did get some, they still worked very well.

BTW, snow tires on all 4 corners is best.

Had Blizzaks on a non-Honda in the past. They were great. Not sure about tirelife though...I've heard people chew through them pretty quick if the weather gets better and you start driving on dry roads. For snow/winter conditions, however, they are great. Next winter, they are definitely going on my Civic.

New here but I sell tires and have Vredestien Quatrac2's on my civic. I can and have gone anywhere I wanted. Up until the the snow was so deep that the car bottomed out. They are an all season tire but are recomended for snow also.
http://www.vredestein.com Not very popular here in the US but they are awesome in wet and snow.

I just received my Winterforce tires from tirerack. They were like $40/ea and the tread looks very nice. I think they will hold their own. Definatly an improvement over my old tires. I used to get stuck at stop signs.

I've been running Yoko AVS winter 195/55/R15 and am vry pleased with them.

The dry performance is outstanding and the wet snow performance equally impressive.

Choosing snow tires depends on what type of driving you do and how much snow your area gets. Some tires are better in the deep snow and ice, but will suck on dry roads. Others aren't so great in the snow and ice, but good in the dry, wet and slushy snow.

I run Michelin Pilot Alpins. They are a high-performance snow tire which means they are good in the dry, wet and light snow. I have used them to drive through 8" of snow without any problems, though, too. They have a higher speed rating and good tread life. I have put about 25k on them so far and they have about 3/8" of tread left. I will probably have to get new ones sometime during this winter. This will be my 4th season with them.

Great tires. Very similar to the Blizzaks, but less than half the price.

id say Hoosier drag slicks do the best in snow.

just go to sears and by the meatiest looking tire there, for ur size. i had some generic beefy tires and they were actually pretty damned good in snow!

Good snow tires you'll realize has a smooth soft tread. If you run your hand along the treads, it'll feel soft. This is usually a good thing to look for.
