Default GM Synchromesh FM not available???

I've finally got all of my **** together for my swap. So yesterday I was out buying new plugs and fluids and decided to give the GM mtf a try. I went to the local chevy dealership but they told me they only have two different kinds of mtf: regular 75 weight and synchromesh. I asked if they had the friction modified synchromesh and the guy said he'd never heard of it and couldn't find a part number for it. What's going on? Just for reference I live in Canada, but I don't think that would make a difference for availability. Absolutely everything at the parts counter was branded AcDelco, but they guy said its just different labels and everything is the same as before.

Has anyone bought this stuff recently? How about other Canadians?

Ya, that had happened to me over a year ago. The guy said there is an AC delco equivalent, that it was the same but just a different label or something.

You don't need friction modified. Just get the regular synchromesh.

< Has regular synchromesh no probs after 20k miles.

If you want the full benefits you do need it. It's different..., much smoother than non fm.

I have a picture I took of both of them a couple years ago when I was expirimenting with it (FM and non), different part numbers, and NO dealership likes to admit that they have both kinds.

I've tried them both in Honda transmissions and the notorious crunchbox's older DSM's have.. and the regular synchromesh does not compare to the FM!

If they stopped making the FM, eh.. that sucks for you. I'd stay with Honda MTF and a small additive that was carefully selected.
