....ghetto riggin a LED light to tell me when to shift.
my freinds know me for my ghetto rigs on my lil hatch.. these are only temp. i was wondfering. seeing if i couldjust hook a wire up to my alternator and ytadda yadda yadda... i would have a shift light..... since i dont have a tach.... and dont want no bulky **** chillin on my dash.... just have a lil LED light on my steering coloum.... anyone know of anything i could do????i hate not knowing when to shift.....and this post wasnt to get harrased by all you "rice" haters **** you this is my car i do what i want to it

well you need to pick a rpm that you want the light to light up at...
From there I'd imagine there are different ways to do it...
You could use a pulse width modulator to judge when the tach signal is going at the right frequency (rpm range).
Not sure how else you would do it though...
I'm sure there is a write up somewhere... but probobly not here...
try club si or the like...

their's actually a device that can do this, 3 wires to hook up too, power, ground, tach signel. then you can adjust the redline of the car, then a LED lights up when you need to shift. but how are you going to know your redline without a tach in the first place?

no clue i was just thinking about it.... ill do some more research on other forums..... and yeah you "hacker" punk... im a real person i shift when i hear it... its just annoying not having something do when im not paying attention

You can change the rpm with a little plug in.
I did this on my fiance's car. It works great.

what about an ex gauge cluster? no big-*** tach on the dash, and you still have the rpm.

yeah you need this unless you are going to buy an autometer shift light or shift light tach or Apex'i RSM
