GC + AGX = tire rub?
I just put on my new ground controls and kyb agx struts and when I take a corner hard I can hear the rear wheels rub. Now in order to get off the old struts we had to tear out the lca bushing and we put some ghetto-rigged polyurethna bushings in as a replacement. My question is, since i know there shouldnt be any rubbing, what is the problem:
a: bushing sucks get some real polyurethane bushing pressed in
b: tire profile is too high (16" rims with 50profile on the tires)
c: Something else?
I have the gc's all the way up in back and there is like 3 fingers of clearance in the well but if i hit a turn good and fast it will dip down and rub...
Ideas?

Re: GC + AGX = tire rub? (egb18turbo)
could also me the spring rates being too soft. I believe standard ground control spring rates are 350f/250r. I had those on my ef hatch and it rubbed in hard turns, then I got 450f/560r spring rates and now it doesnt rub.

How low did you slam it???
The GC's are going to be more firm than stock, so I would guess its either your ride height, or you have the wrong wheel/tire package.

Re: (Marauder)
its your gettho *** bushing i bet that thing has so much slop in it.
and are you sure its the tire rubbing on the fender?
i think it the strut moving and rubbing the tire because of the gettho *** ****

Re: (Marauder)
Sounds like you've got the springs/sleeves switched around. With GC you should be arounmd flush with the tires with the nut halfway up the sleeve. (roughly)

Re: (undertheradar)
it could be just the offset on the rim isnt perfect. i have rota slips with a -40 offset and they rub during sharp turns even with my tein flex kit. and yeah i would at least get the 45 series tires. 50 is way to big.

ok heres what i did:
re-rigged the bushings so they were tighter, raised the rear GC's up to the point where the collar is even with the top of the sleeve. ANd I raised teh front 2 full rotations. I just took it out for a drive and it rides pretty nice. I am going to take a pic now of it so you can see how it sits....

Whoever said that the gc spring rates are 200-180 please stop spreading misinformatoin. THe numbers you are looking at are the length of the springs not the stiffness.
Which sleeves do you have in the front and which do you have in the back ... Two should be shorter and two should be longer? What length springs did you get with your GC's I think the standard setup is 8" in front and 7" in back.
50 series tires in 16" are too big for your setup..

sleeves in front are shorter then in back, im not sure which GC's i have but i can get the part #'s if they would help. The tire in back *was* rubbing the rubber thing lining the wheel well. I think what it all boils down to is 50 profile = too big. But for now I got it at an acceptable height/ride like i said workin on gettin some pics up as we speak....
