G-Tech meter
I was looking into the G-tech meters and the nology Pda dyno. Is anyone running one of these. I have heard the pros and cons of both but i was wondering if anyone had one and how they perform.

Re: G-Tech meter (HNDAPWR)
is it easy to set up and use, i am looking for something decently simple. I wanted the Nology Pda Dyno but its like $400 without the PDA. So thats the biggest thing. Thanks for the response.

Re: G-Tech meter (flyingduck04)
i had a G-tech meter when they first came out.it was kind of a PITA as far as the 0-60 and 1/4 mile timer parts-you had to have a long, flat stretch of road that you can afford to come to a complete stop on...hard to find on a public street.seemed to have a pretty big margin of error also.
the part i had the most fun with was the lateral G meter.set it up and go on a twisty road-pretty interesting.
it's fun to have and screw around with, but i wouldn't use it for getting totally acurate data.

The G-Tech things are notoriously unreliable. If you really want to know, please go to a track instead of risking lives on the street trying to find out things like your 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, which will probobally not be correct anyways.

G-Tech is a piece of ****. I've used it once before i went to the track and it's the most unreliable piece of technology.
It said i ran 15.3@98 mph
I went to the track the next week with the car in the exact same shape and ran 14.72@95mph.

Re: (1.8 HB)
thanks for all the replies, i wasnt really looking at my 1/4 mile time but more for more HP level. I am running a d15b7 which barely has any power so didnt really wanna waste two hours to drive to a dyno pay 100buck and find out what i already know. I really just want to do a base line and see if all my aftermarket parts are doing there job.

wow that was exactly what i was gonna say. go to a track and get real numbers instead of pissing around and getting fake ones.

Hahah ****!! A 15.3 at 98mph!! That would put you at really low 14 if you could drive worth a half a ****. That trap speed is crazy!

Think of the G-tech as a tuning tool - not for absolute numbers, but for gains/losses. Oh, and make at least 3 passes to get better results. It can give bad numbers occasionally, but with more passes you can see any erroneous data. I like my Competition Pro -
If you are looking for absolute numbers for acceleration, go to a track. If you are looking for absolute numbers for hp/tq go to a dyno. If you want to be able to see if the mods you are making are netting gains, and do it without going to either of these until you get it set up, the G-Tech (or similar) provides you with a lot better tool than the ole butt dyno.
My $.02

the g-tech reads actual speed. The track does not. The track takes an average speed over the las X' amount of feet towards the end of teh track. Thats why the MPH is higher on the gtech vs. track speeds
I've used the gtech in the past and It was plenty acurate for me. It was 1 tenth slower then the track told me and the MPH was 3 above what the track recorded.
Data was taken at the track and ran on the strip.
I think the g-tech is a great way to find out what kinda ballpark you are in as far as what you are runnin near.
oh and BTW. when i tested it at the track, I ran it 17 times. was close everytime other then human errors w/ teh gtech. like not settin it up striat or it fallin off the windshield when you launch.
I used to have a write up on all of it years ago but that was on HondaPrelude.com before chris pulled the plug on the site.
welp.. my $.02
