Default Fuel pump help. 95 civic

So I changed over my cabbin harness and fuse box. Now the fuel pump is not coming on when I turn the key. I switched back fuse box's and same thing. I Checked all fuses under the hood and fuse box. I have power to everything but that. Spark ect.. Its not starting. When I turn the key I do not hear the fuel pump kick on either. What realy would have gone out or what wires might I have missed pluging in? I'm lost please help. Its a 95 civic dx coupe with a 5 speed trans and a d15mini me but that shouldnt matter. Thanks for any input.
Wil

I'm still lost. What would be the hot wire's to the fuel pump? What relay is it for the fuel pump?
thanks,
Wil

wish i knew the color codes..but it really isnt necessary. total of what..3 wires?

one will be ground.
one will be fuel gauge.
one will be power.

when you first turn a normal car on...you will get power for 2 seconds or so. the pump should kick on like you mention then shut out.

fuel guage should have power all the time but i beleive it ranges with how much gas you have in..full tank is highr voltage...empty tank lower voltage but i think you will alwys have some sort of voltage there.

you will be looking for the wire that gets power right after your friend turns the car on.

When you turn the key to ON(II), does the CEL remain ON?

The diagram shows you where to find the main relay.

yes when I turn the key to on(II) the cel stays on. Is the main relay the one that has brown wires going to it? Main relay is mostly a problem on ed's(ef's) like the on in your sig. but it it do the same on a ej(eg)?

Use the jumper wire method (see CEL sticky) to pull the code(s) from the ECU. Post your finding.

The diagram shows the color of the wires attached to the main relay.

It's not throwing any codes at all the cel is staying on. I jumped it and nothing. I tried using a paper clip and a piece of wire still no code's showing it just stays on. I'm gonna check the main relay tommrrow swap one out if I can find one at the j/y or cheap in town. Does a ed(ef) have the same main relay?

If the CEL stays ON steady without or with the service connector jumped, then you have code 0, which indicates a problem with ECU or its circuit.

Have you checked whether you also lack spark at the plugs?

My guess is that when you were working on the fuse box, one of the ECU ground wires did not get reconnected or got damaged. Also check the important ground wire on the thermostat housing.

All grounds are good all fuses, Ecu is good I swaped out another p28 today from my neighbor after giving him a six pack lol(had to assure him I was'nt going to mess things up 54 year old guy). I have spark. Everything works but the fuel pump. I'm going to hard wire tomorrow to see if the pump it self is bad before I go pop $60 for a main relay. But is there a way I could test the relay so I don't have to pull out the back seat and pump cover first?

But I should also note that Reason for changing over the harness is some one cut up the cabbin harness before me and did a hack job to wire in vtec on a dx harness and there was a few wires that grounded out for the heater and burnt up. Hince replacing whole harness and fuse box. But all is good now so I'm not sure.

I agree. It's a good idea to check the main relay:

sounds like a bad ground or take your air box or intake off and shoot starting fluid to see if its a bad pump

By the way, the service manual (92-95, pages 11-32 to 11-34) suggests that you should start by double checking fuse 31 under the hood and fuse 18 and 24 under the dash.

I've checked and checked but ya never know. I pulled them all out to. I'll check again in the morning. I'm making a homemade test light right now to check some other things out. I'll let every one know tomorrow what happens.

Ok I'm really lost now, I checked for continunity and they all read 0. I'm going to go check and see if there is power to the fuel pump wires when I turn the key on now. This thing is starting to make me mad. Thanks for help guys.

Well for s***'s and giggles I pulled my ecu out and poped off the cover and found some nasty stuff. I'll post up a picture in a while camera is charging. I'm so lost. Would the ecu cause the fuel pump not to click on and it not to spark? I'm throwing code 0, but I got spark the other day. I'm lost wtf?

Yes, a bad ECU can definitely cause no fuel and no spark. Read the troubleshooting pages in the service manual that I posted earlier.
