Default Fuel pump? "no start" problem

I have a 96 EK dx with a sir b16 swap in it. right this second it's engine turning, not starting. I checked for spark and I have it. I listened for the fuel pump priming ("whirrr" noise) and it doesn't sound anything like I remember it was supposed to sound. It's making more like an electrical connection is being made coming from the backseat (clicking almost). Is it more than likely the fuel pump? Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey, thanks everyone for your replies. I checked all your sugestions tonight. There wasn't any fuel pressure. I took out my back seat and jumped the pump with no change, it makes the same noise, so I'm guessing that the pump's the culprit. I ordered a walbro 255lph that should be coming inthis week. I'll post if it fixes the problem. Thanks again...

ekb16- If I could give you the best advice possible it would be to use your stock wiring harness with the conversion harness to obd1, you can buy them for like 80 bucks. I thought I'd be "mr. do-it-yourself" and make my own harness conversion. Although I did it successfully, it was the biggest headache. Good luck, hit me up if you have any more questions.
