Iam getting ready to change the fuel filter on my 98 civic ex and 99 civic hx. All we need to do in order to complete the install is 1) disconnect the batter 2) disconnect the firewall plate 3) disconnect the upper and lower bolts and nuts.
Am I missing anything?

1. Depressurize the system.
2. Have towels/rags ready to absorb the fuel.
3. Proceed with removal.

Yeah that's pretty much what I said.

To depressurize just take off the fuel cap and loosen the service bolt on top of the fuel filter - fuel will spill out so have a towel on top of it.

Then have some more towels ready for when you remove the filter b/c that'll spill some fuel out as well when u d/c the lines. I recommend doing this outside oppose to inside a garage - but whatever works, gas evaporates fast.

its really easy, you can even skip the part where you disconnect the battery and use rags, takes 10 minutes max. - Nick

I bought napa fuel filters for 14.99. good deal! Any way they came with 3 copper rings, 2 for the top and 1 for the bottom. The bottom ring I didnt use because i thought it was gooing to restrict fuel flow if the ring was put in there not properly. Plus the oem filter didnt use one, would this be a problem or am I okay?
