Default Fuel cuts out at 5500 RPM, right when VTEC is about to hit, wtf?

just droped another d16y8 in and now when i get to 5500 rpm the fuel cuts out. What are something that could be stopping this. Everything VTEC related is connected.

im going to use the shops OBD 2 reader today to check and clear the codes and then ill see how it goes.

One thing is last night i checked under the hood and my VTEC Selinoid wasnt connected, then i connected it up but i did not clear the ECU. could this be a reason?

My car did this. It ended being the ignition coil in the distributor was going out. So anytime I would put any load on it (vtec) it would act like the fuel cut off was kicking in or it would completely die.

+1 for limp mode. Get a cat in there and you can wire up something to "trick" the ecu into thinking the ftps is working. http://technet.ff-squad.com/code91.htm <- this site tells you how to wire the thing. Or, just convert to OBD1

K, got it checked again and i am getting P1259 So i guess ill clean out the VTEC Silenoid first, becasue before the engine went down we used some thick thick oil to help keep the car from smoking.
