front end shake constantly almost
K this is for a friend and this is kind of what im thinking. He has a 93 civic with a b18a turbo in it with a ctr trans. When he is driving his car in every gear the front end shakes and it stops when he pushes the clutch. No matter if he is going 15 or 100 when he pushes the clutch to drop revs the shake stops. So im thinking that mabye the flywheel is comming loose or the crank pully is falling apart or something in the rotating assembly has to be out of ballance. what do you guys think

does it do the dance sitting still at idle or while revving too?

a vibration under accel only would be something like bad cv axles...a tire vibration, unless its separated or really out of balance will go away and get worse at certain speeds on accel and decel.

its not an axle or out of balance tire or anything like that because he can push in the clutch and it stops or at least feels that way. I would think that it does when sitting still and reving even though he didnt mention that. Thats what makes me lean toward a crankpulley cracking and chipping away or the flywheel comming loose.

im not sure on the mount brand he bought the car the way it sits. He has had it for a while and it just started doing it last week sometime.

it has to do something with the trans, i think its either the clutch, pilot bearing, or throwout bearing.
take off the housing, and make sure nothing is loose, and while ur at it, replace the pilot and throwout bearings. check the clutch for odd wear and material.

Rev the car in nuetral and see if it still happens. If it does than someing with the engine or clutch assembly is out. If not then its something in the drivetrain, My guess would be axles. But you'll have to disasemble and check as you go until you find the problem.

figure out if it does it in neutral while just revving, and find out if it does it while driving with clutch pushed in but rpms up.
for everyone saying axles, its definately not. when you push the clutch in while moving the axles STILL rotate just like they would while cruising. its gonna be a clutch/tranny issue, or crankshaft pulley, like the OP stated.

When you depress the clutch it takes load OFF of the drivetrain.
Does the problem persist while cruising at a constant speed or only under acceleration? Check the rear motor mount and the axles.

it does it when the motor gets about 3 grand or so he said i havent seen him in a few days so i havent actually got to see how bad it is. I know it is not an axle because it stops when he pushes in the clutch. IM thinking that something is out of balance. He does really car for some reason he just wants to know what it is and i told him that if he lets it keep going on then it could get bad. Fry an oil pump spin some main bearings or something like that.

Bad axles will cause a pulsation when under load, but none when just spining, If its a motor tranny balance issue, it will happen when just revving the engine. otherwise its something else like axles or motor/tranny mounts.

what??? i dont have a clue when its doing it, but he said it does it while moving, not just while accelerating, which would indicate its not an axle. only time an axle will cause a vibration while crusing is if its bent.

Then why don't you ask your friend more questions so we can help figure it out. Whether he is accelerating or just cruising, if he is in gear the axles will have load on them. Ask him if the vibration still happens while going forty with the clutch in or in neutral. Does it get worse at certain speeds? Any noises?
