Default why isnt my clutch holding? haha

well i got a 403whp 310ft lbs (uncorrected) d16 and i went with a action 2ms 6puck sprung clutch.

the reason i went with it because ive heard of other 400+ d-series guys using it with no slippage AT ALL.

well mine slips at the top of 3rd gear and it did it once in 2nd. the wierd thing is thoguh is that it seems like it only slips when it feels like. it's off and on. i could race and it slip and then punch it coming back right after and it wont slip. so i dont think its because it got hot or anything. and my stock flywheel was resurfaced and no oil or anything got on the clutch. i thought this clutch would should hold my power no problem

what should i do? get a new clutch? could something else be wrong?

yes it was stepped right. i even checked it myself.

it makes since that it would slip at the top of thrid before anywhere else though. because top of 3rd is where it is REALLY pulling like rabid horse!

My Action clutch (same one as yours) does the same thing right around 375-380 whp on our Mustang dyno (pretty much ~ to your whp). Going to upgrade once the motor blows.

every car makes power differently....the weight of your car, diameter of your tires and gearing can also have an affect on whether your clutch slips or not..have you checked to see if your slave cyl. is good?..for that power level on a DD I would honestly just pony up and buy a twin disc.

huh? i just said in the post above yours this ISNT a daily driver. no im not going twin disc when im only making 403whp 310ftlbs. unless you give me the money right? haha

my car is basically a brand new car off the showroom floor. everything on it is new... so yes it has a brand new slave and master.

My bad i just read it wrong..the reason i reccomended a twin disc is because they are fairly streetable and will take a ton of power...I honestly don't know if any of the other single disc clutches will take more power than a 2ms/2md will..maybe a CM Stage 5?

no its the clutch.. it would slip at the top of 3rd and i would hurry to shift into 4th. once i get into 4th i would hit the gas and it would go no where. then i would hurry and let off the gas to let the rpms drop and get back on it and it would go. the clutch started to slip at the top of 3rd ont he dyno also and had to switch to 4th gear pulls.

Yeah. Check the freeplay. You want to make sure you have the right amount of free play. To little and you clutch won't seat all the way. Now you may have already messed up the disk if you have been running it long. It could have glazed the disk.

How many miles on this clutch/flywheel? Maybe its just worn.
Your going to end up taking it apart to either inspect or replace it.

Either way, you will have to pull it out and inspect it like muckman said.
