First time honda owner
Bought myself a 93 civic 130k auto for a daily driver. PO said it was Vtec, is that even an option? Don't know much about it, I put a new factory cat back on it last night. Plan on T-belt, waterpump and valve adjustment in a few weeks. I am sure I will be stopping by for questions.

Head gasket failures are common around 120,000 mi. If a T-belt (and water pump) job was not done at 90,000 mi as it should have been, get it done ASAP because it is ready to snap.
Other than that, they're pretty reliable as long as you keep oil in them.

head gasket failures on the Z6's??? I would disagree. On the 88-95 non vtec engines with the composite head gaskets, the head gaskets fail all the time...there's even an updated gasket and head bolts.

HG failures are much more common on the D15B7, but I've also seen a lot of Z6es blowing HGs with around 115,000-130,000 miles. As you mentioned though, the failures are far more common with the D15.

DUDE!!! Don't go to the dealership, they'll rip u off big time. If you know how to do the work yourself order the T-belt off of http://www.prostreetonline.com. They come with a Water pump too. (Yes, they are OEM parts, before anyone asks.) But, if you are unsure with what you are doing, then dealership is the way to go.

Re: First time honda owner (mkmarz)
Thanks for all the replys about my truck, I didn't do that Solid axle. I did however changed everything around to shorten the wheelbase and added a custom made bed (after I flopped it and crashed the bed).
I work at a shop and get a good rate at honda. How do the aftermarket replacement parts compare to the honda parts? Edit---- Just noticed that he said they are OEM parts.
