first attemp at clutch job, need help
im attempting to change my clutch, its my first time and i was following this diy http://www.westkyimports.com/forums/...es-Clutch-and-
i have everything off. axles out, shift linkage off, motor mounts off, header off, starter out, but i dont know why the tranny will not separate. there is about a half inch gap between the tranny and block. the dowel pins are out, but the no matter how much i try to pull the tranny off, it wont separate. is there a trick to getting the tranny off? i have a jack under the tranny supporting it. ive used pry bars, and nothing. looks like its almost off, but it seems stuck. im out of ideas. its a 2000 b18c1.

I had the same problem with my girlfriends del sol.
I wouldn't pry like that. Could bend the very delicate and smooth mating surfaces between the motor and tranny. Bending it is very easy to do. What I did was slide the tranny back on the motor and check all around for hanging/loose bolts and hanging wires etc. There's got to be something still holding it on. Wiggle like crazy. At every angle possible. And double check all the bolts and mounts. I'm sure you didn't forget the tranny T bracket in the back? Don't forget the slave cylinder. Also I see you took off the shift linkage, did you remove the shift rod as well? Good luck!

It's very possible. They mate so freaking perfect and tight to each other that the smallest thing will stop you from pulling it. And not pulling with equal pressure on all sides will stop it from coming out. Is that 1 inch gap prefect all the way around? If not, you're pulling it out cocked like. There's 3 bolts holding the t to the tranny. 2 smaller/shorter ones that go left to right as if you're sitting in the car and a big *** one hiding by the starter that goes right to left. I actually forgot to remove that one the first time. And there's a tiny sensor hiding on the top by the back of the tranny in the t bracket area. I think even a tiny wire would impede the removal process.
It seems like you know what you're doing and have everything done right. I'd slide it back on and double triple check that every single sensor and bolt is off. Also, you might want to look at other diys on it from someone else. In my experience, it seems like someone always forgets something in their diy post. So check a few different ones.

Re: first attemp at clutch job, need help
i thought i might of over looked a bolt somewhere. but it seems i got them all off. the t bracket is not in the way at all, so it wouldnt matter if it was completely off the car. nothing is connected to the tranny at this point. the dowel pins are completely separated from the block, not connected. but i still cant seem to separate the tranny. used a strap and try to tug and wiggle it but still nothing. i tried prying it on all different angles, the tranny moves when i pry it, but it comes back the same spot. i tried jacking the tranny high and low while pulling and wiggling the tranny. any other ideas i can try? it seems like the only thing still holding the tranny in is the spline rod
(whatever its called) in the middle of the tranny.

Did you remove the starter? the bottom bolt goes right through into the block. Or maybe you forget the bolt that goes through from the back, it's up high under the intake manifold.

Re: first attemp at clutch job, need help
Put a floor jack under the trans alone, and slightly jack it up 1 pump at a time while pulling it out,
You will not be just pulling, you will be doing the jiggly dance while pulling, it looks to me that trans is hanging off the crank and needs to come up to relieve some pressure.
Better yet jack up little and slowly untill the gap you have measure the same all around and then dance with the stars while pulling and you should deliver the transmission. Throw on some scrubs if you have them around to make it look more authentic.

Re: first attemp at clutch job, need help
OP would have to back that bolt out 1 inch or so and then just walk away, but im over it as its gonna be something stupid its hanging up on, for all we know it hitting the damn frame rail, MM, ect.
Dont even know why I comment on something I cant learn from, this is caveman food and just general auto crap.

need to let the motor hang down on the transmission side and pull it out. your probably hitting the frame rail it can not just pull out. did you ever pull the bitch pin? is the shift linkage still attached? if so it needs to be removed
