I currently have a 98' civic with a d16 V-TEC motor. My motor is now damaged and i have a d16 Non-V-TEC sitting in the backyard that i can use. I am wondering if i can swap out my V-TEC motor and put in my Non-V-TEC motor in. I DO have the ECU for the Non-VTEC. would it just be a plug and play type of job or would i have to change the wiring harness also?

Same OBD year motor for both? If so then it will be plug and play. You'll have an extra plug for the VTEC solenoid

VTEC, and you are the first person in the world to do this. Nobody on H-T has ever done this before. Search, I bet you won't find another thread like this.

Put the D16Y8 head on your D16Y7 block (minime swap) then you'll still have VTEC.
