Default Final questions before swap.

Ok I am all psyched on doing this minime swap , doing it tomorrow, last few questions before I delve in:

1. Do I need a sealant for the head gasket? I know I need to rub both mating surfaces with acetone, but as far as sealant goes shoudl I use any?

2. Valve cover, book says use a few drops of RTV sealnt, can I reuse the valve cover seal if it isnt damaged?

3. How long does this all take I figure it will take the better part of a day to take off the old head and get the new one on and working correctly.

Again thanks everyone for all your help
Dan

you can reuse certain things...but imo if you pay that much for a swap...dont take any short cuts

I have OEM brand gaskets, a whole new set, head, intake and exhaust, but do I need any sealant for the head gasket, or do I just acetone both the head and the block and stick it on? The book says use rtv sealant for the valve cover, but it doesnt have specific on the head gasket.

Thanks
Dan

im not saying that this is a pointless swap, but the minime swap isn't worth it in my humble opinion. the power gains are little with the amount of work you are putting in.

just my .02

but if you want to, go for it!

I just removed my head and when i put it back on, I used a coper gasket spray. Seemed to work well but have not finished yet.

As for the valve cover gasket, unless it is damaged, i wouldnt replace it.
