Icon2 Feeler Gauge Question for B16a EM1

got a SIRii head from HMotor and it didn't have the cam gear attached. So I have no clue where TDC..I want to say when the cam gear is pushing down on #1 rocker arm that it is TDC.. (but I'm so new at this I don't want to try anything just yet...) I can feed a .009 mm through the cam/arm gap already so I'm guessing thats bad... OR does it even matter since the head isn't even on the block? I have the Helms that everyone has, is there a certain section that lets you find it when you have this problem?

Thanks

Why not wait until you have a cam gear to set the valve clearances?

Well when I attached the cam gears do I just turn the gear to the TDC position and go ahead?

If everything is already torqued down correctly on the head, yeah, it should be ok to do that....just a heads up that it's a pain in the *** to turn a single cam gear by hand, much more so dual cams that must be in sync with each other or else it all gets thrown outta whack again.

Well If I do this is this going to be a for sure way to know if my cam gears are TDC. I mean just by lining up the TDC marks doesn't necessarily mean that my cams are TDC does it? (meaning that theres some specific way to line up the cam gear to the cam to guarantee TDC with out having the head on the block!)

Thanks

There is a keyway on the camshafts and camgears. You can't mess it up. I got an extra pr3 stock gear ill give you if you pay the shipping.
