fastbrakes rear kit installed (pics)
I finally got around to installing the fastbrakes rear kit on my gsr.
I do realize this is the civic forum, but since many people here who have swaps also have bigger front brakes. this is a good complement to big front brakes.
The kit consists of bigger rotors, and a bracket to move the caliper out.
I have the itr calipers up front along with the fastbrakes rotors. I am running porterfield R4S pads all around. With SS lines up front. and SS lines sitting in a box in my garage. I will probably put those on this week. I didnt have time to swap lines and blead the brake system

the instructions that come with the kit are good. but there is only one diagram of how to do the install. so hopefully if someone has to do this, then my post might help them
you can also get the idea of install if you are putting some new rotors or pads on.
some pics:
before
take of the wheel, then take off the screws that go into the rotor.
I had a relly hard time trying to take out both of the screws. after 30 minutes of using the impact screwdriver and almost breaking my hand from missing the screw driver with the hammer. I decided to just drill out the screws.
after geting the screw drilled out, it still was not coming out. so i just used a really big drill bit to take out the bigger portion of hte screw.
then take of the 2 bolts on the back of the caliper. i think they are 12mm
there some other steps in between this next pic. i just didnt take any pics. but after the caliper is unbolted, hang the main caliper still atached to the brake line with a ziptie or something, i used a coat hanger for holding up the caliper.
you can IM or email me if you have any questions on how to swap the pads or anything else...
here is the first pic with the new rotor, and caliper bracket.
I forgot to take pics of the final product. I was anxious to get out on a test drive.
I can get some this week, if someone wants to see the setup with the wheel off.
old rotor vs new rotor
just went out in the rain to take a pic with the wheel on
the stripe around the rotor is the pads wear marks.
I didnt have time yesterday to do any testing. and it is raining today. so maybe when the weathe clears up I will post some results of how I like the kit.
in one of the pics, it looks like I have my car sitting on my wheels. it just looks that way. the jack stands are under the car. the wheels are just sitting there looking pretty.

give me a hollar if you have any questions when you are doing the install. my cell is in my sig
update:
I drove a lil more today. but it is still rainy out.
there is less squat in braking. but its not dramatically less. just more balanced. I think I got used to the dive (which wasnt much to begin with) now its more like how it should come from the factory.
hopefully tomorrow there is more sun out
