Fastbrakes 2-Piston Rear Brake Upgrade
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been talking with Brian from Fastbrakes about doing a complete rear brake upgrade for Any Honda/Acura that uses the 10" rear brake set-up. The kit would be made up of wilwood 2 piston calipers and a spot caliper to use as a parking brake to make it street useable and new rotors also. The kit would have the Fastbrake quality that always comes with his kits. The kit will also come with the proper mounting brackets and rear lines to use with the kit. He said that he would be interested in finishing the kit if he could get atleast 3 people to that were interested and would prepay. The cost would be 800.00 for the entire kit ready to bolt on. I know most will say the kit is overkill, but I think it would be perfect for the show cars and those that like the ease of brake pad change the calipers give. I am sure the set-up would also benefit the hardcore racers also. Please e-mail me if you might be interested. I hope we can get a few people together. I have been trying to get this kit made for almost two years now. I think with enough people it could sell well. I know the wlast kit I asked him to set-up he sells alot of now. It is his 10.2" 4 piston front kit.

The front doesn't even sell for that much. Sorry a little too much for the leat important part of the braking sytem to me. Good luck.

Re: Fastbrakes 2-Piston Rear Brake Upgrade (Apex i ITR)
I know it is a bit expensive, but the amount of work in the kit is much more than a front kit. The bracket will need to not only hold the 2 piston caliper, but also the single spot caliper to act as a parking brake. So really the kit will come with either 3 or 4 calipers depending on if the final design has a parking brake on both sides.

Still for 8 bones.....I dunno. For a show car its great. And I'll be honest if he was selling it for 600 bux then I'd bee pretty interested (From a performance stand point).
I guess keep us posted anyway.

I am tryingot get him to come down to atleast 700-725. Should be able to shed some cost by using one spot caliper for a parking brake instead of one on each side. I just need to first see if interest exists and them go to him with what is wanted in teh final part.

Just got an e-mail form Brian and he is rethinking his pricing on the kit. It will be designed with a single parking brake caliper and should not have any issues fitting in a 15" wheel. I am hoping ot get the price @675.00-700.00. With using only one caliper for the parking brake that should cut material costs down. The brackets will also be less expensive also since only one is needed to hold both the spot caliper and the brake caliper.

I would consider it possibly then, if its under 700 bux.

I am doing my best to get the price down to under 700.00. I don't really want to pay that much either. I am doing whatever I can to get the price good, becuase if I can not get two other people interested in the kit and willing to prepay like i am, then the kit will probaly never get made. I have been trying to get it done for a year now, but other more popular kits have always taken priority. I guess in the end money talks and will help make it a priority.

If you are interested it may take a month or two before money needs to be collected, so maybe then you might be able to help out and join in.

I am definitely interested as well if the price is right. I have been talking with Brian about a custom front kit for my car as well. Great guy and awesome to do business with, so if the cost will stay down I am definitely in for the rear setup.

Re: Fastbrakes 2-Piston Rear Brake Upgrade (KamikazeSol)
will he be using different rear rotors?
or is it that much $$$ for just rear calipers, lines and brackets?
ouch.....
I think the rear brakes are fine, and I have tried the rear 11" brakes and those may be too much rear brake for a gutted hatch!

Re: Fastbrakes 2-Piston Rear Brake Upgrade (owen_the_soyboy)
The kit will be designed with a 10" rotor and not th ehuge 11" rotor. It should help give better braking control, but should not be over kill. A 4 piston rear would be over kill, but the smaller two piston would give just an d added edge and help with weight, since the factory unit is fairly heavy. the willwood caliper only weights in at @2 pounds and the parking brake caliper would only be @1.5 pounds. That should shave a good amount of weight of the rear. I want the kit to make brake changes in the rear as easy as my front kit and to help give the car a more uniform look with the calipers being the same material and maker. I admit is is a little for the look factor, but also very functional. I guess I may be a bit jealous of the new Infiniti G35 sport edition my farther bought with the Brembo sytem. The braking is almost neck snapping withe the Brembo kit.

I'm looking for imporved brake performance as well. It would also be for a little more uniform look but the cost would go a long way in determining if I'd do it.

Just wanted to let people know Brian is working on the kit this weekend. He is working on keeping the price down. I think he will do his best to keep us @650.00-675.00.

For the kit, would some kind of proportioning work be done to the kit....or that be left up to the customer?
I have a Baer touring rear setup on my car, with a single piston caliper, and the braking distance after bolting it on was worse than stock. This was because the rears would lock up before the fronts. The rear needed major trimming on the proportion to get the fronts to do more braking work than the rears.
And a park brake??? What's that? good compression and first gear does it for me.

Re: Fastbrakes 2-Piston Rear Brake Upgrade (Marauder)
The kit should work fine with a stock valve. The kit would really only be for those that have the bigger 4 piston kits up fornt to help keep balance. That is why a small 2 piston caliper is being used. Someof us stil use our parking brake at times. Just a needed thing for a daily driven ride.

I'm daily driven and don't need it! Its a convience, not a neccesity. Unless you live somewhere with lots of steep hills.
After putting on my kit....I don't trust anyone that says it can use the stock proportion. I have a huge 13" and two piston up front with a 12" and single piston in the rear and I still lock up the rear first.
Just the fact that there is a four piston up front and a two piston in the rear doesn't mean it wont need a proportioning valve.

Re: Fastbrakes 2-Piston Rear Brake Upgrade (b16supertuner)
The price is not yet set in stone. Brian is working on a mock-up this weekend. The post was started for those that might want to try the kit when it makes it to production. For those without enough money or are too cheap please keep comments to yourselves.
