Show up with "$5,000." If he says no, act like you're going to an atm but really just drive around the corner and contemplate the buy, bring more than enough money with you in the first place. This is just a fail safe for you to think on your own without his presence or force.

yeah i was thinking that. my grandma is coming with me tomorrow to look at it so i'm more than likely getting it one way or another ha. i'd rather pay her back for a loan than a bank.

I think that car would be a pretty good deal for $5500. EM1s always fetch a pretty penny, and that one is pretty clean, even though everyone's been picking it apart trying to help you out.

Re: fair price for 99 si with ~82k miles?
ronald mcdonalds? riced? because of the yellow ground wires?
it looks like a really good grounding job to me. if i had a pic of my em1 engine, u would see my yellow ground wires also. i did it on purpose so i can see where my grounds are.
also you would not want to put the stock grounds back on the engine..
not flaming you, just giving the OP some info. looks like a solid ground. the engine doesnt look that bad. looks like its got plug wires also.
Do you know if there are any CEL on it?
Edit: the red radiator, a/c, and battery stays are a little much :/ ill give you that

oh I C. if they are just wrappings on the stock grounds wires and such, i would agree, that is the dumbest thing ever. just make sure they arent bigger ground wires.

my bad i typed it wrong. you mentioned taking all that garbage off. i was just saying if that is a grounding kit, with newer and bigger wire, leave it on.

Oh yea, we kind of got off topic.
are you getting a loan, or paying cash/check?
if you are getting a loan, i just looked on NADA (which is what most banks use to value car loans). They will only loan the trade in value on most cars. especially on an older car.

to be honest with you, each little mod, the car get devalued even more, in my opinion. unless its a race car....
What about service records, do they come with the car?
my opinion.. with the engine swap and the mods... 4500-5k
dont let him tell you that the mods make it more valuable -_-

As far as the engine stamp i have a 99 si b16 moter in my delsol and it is stamped B16a2. I pulled the motor out of the car myself.

Re: fair price for 99 si with ~82k miles?
the stock motor either had to be blown up or stolen, you would really have to be douche to kill a B16 in less then 82k, so I would assume if the original motor wasn't stolen, the owner probably treated the swap as poorly as the original, also this doesn't seem like a car a hondadealership would certify as used car. Is this a buy here pay here place ? I think I would pass on this If I was you
just my opinion, I would at the very least run a carfax before purchasing

Re: fair price for 99 si with ~82k miles?
even tho the motor is better i would hassle the sh*t out of him about it....
my buddy bought an EM1 they were asking 7500 for it and because it didn't have the original motor or exhaust he hassled them about emissions and what not and ended up getting it for 6000 including tax,title,license....
just a thought
