found a basically stock 99 em1 at a local stealership for 6995. just wondering if that's a fair-ish price or what i should offer?

I've seen SI's with 150xxx go for this, so even though I still feel it's high, it may be worth it. It better be in emasculate condition though.

Sounds like a great price to me. As with any dealership, try to talk them down a little because it's to your advantage. But because it's from a dealership and it has that low of miles, sounds like a very reasonable price.

I'd heckle the **** out of them if it's been modded. That would drop the price significantly, don't let the dealer fool you. You have no clue how that engine was machined or who did it. Use this to your advantage if you're interested. Seems clean though.
Edit: Also heckle them about the altezza tails. So god damn ugly.

exactly what i was thinking haha. i'm going to scan that engine bay like nobody's business. there's also a 99/00 ex with stock tails so if i end up getting it i'm going to make him swap the ricer tails

^Nice. Try the windows too, Hondas have the biggest damn problem with working power windows haha. Reach in behind the wells and feel for rust, and if that's an aftermarket exhaust, that's more fuel to your fire. Also, check the engine bay and behind the gas cap door just to make sure it's the stock color or if it was redone they weren't amateur's. Be specific and find any imperfection or non stock item to your advantage. Hell, get 'em for the radio if it's not OEM.

Do i see gauges on the A pillar? probably been modded.
My 99 si i got from honda bone stock for 7k out the door with 125,000 miles.
I would do a thorough ckeck on everything.

And upon more review, it seems that your bumper isn't flush and there are no fogs, which came stock on SI's. Idk if it's just the pic angle though. Now, it's just straight missing OEM parts. You can hammer this guy bro.

thanks for pointing out those gauges, guys. totally forgot about that. my friend said it's just the oil pressure, voltage, and water temp i think. either way, more **** that has been tampered with and that would be taken off if i got it ha.

Re: fair price for 99 si with ~82k miles?
^Ah, didn't know they were option. An oil pressure gauge is installed with an oil reader in front of the filter. If it's tightened too much, the block will crack or if installed incorrectly, will leak oil. This is just a good fact to know when bringing it up because it's very easy to mess up and is an "unsafe" aftermarket item if done incorrectly ;]
EDIT: I also see red calipers, aftermarket painting. Haha, this is the funnest game of "point out the imperfections" ever!

Re: fair price for 99 si with ~82k miles?
went and looked at it today and i believe it has a jdm b16a. talked to the dude and said the lowest he would go is $5800. shouldn't the original engine have b16a2 or something stamped on it? this one just had b16a. also had a DC sports header and apexi n1 exhaust

Re: fair price for 99 si with ~82k miles?
All (EDIT: JDM) B16A types are only stamped B16A, the follow numbers aren't on the stamp. If it was a true B16A (first gen B16A), it'd be OBD0, so you're fine.
Edit: $5800 is a very good drop from the sticker, it seems like a legit price for what you're receiving.

EDIT: Furthermore, he said it was a JDM swap. There is no a2 JDM B16a. The a2 is only in the EDM, CAN, and USDM markets. The JDM b16a went up to 98 for the latest models, both EK4's.
