exhaust option for a del sol...
ok, i looked through the exhaust thread, looked for del sols, and really nothing caught my eye.
my buddy has a tanabe (non-canister) something on his b16a2, and its too loud for my taste.
my other buddy has a espelir on his d16z6, and its ear piercing.
im looking for a setup that isn't too 'bling', has a relatively small tip, and is QUIET.
since not too much is made for the del sol, im thinking of going custom... now here is where the dilemma lies...
i think my two best options are either a Magnaflow, or ITR exhaust setup... however, i dont know what to do about a resonator.. since the job will be custom... im not sure what to do about it...
stock will be restrictive... right?
help me out??

I have a ITR catback and its quiet as ****. If quiet is what you want, then that is the rear section for you.
Also try to get your hands on a CTR muffler. I had one and it looked perfect on my hatch.

Re: exhaust option for a del sol... (b_cruz.)
do you feel that it was at all restrictive?
i heard someone say that the itr muffler w/o the cat almost sounds like the 350z does. dunno if it had a resonator or not.

this is the only muffler I have used on my current set up. IMO it is a bit restrictive but its all speculation if it makes a difference.

I have a Skunk2 exhaust on my Sol and with the silencer in it is not that bad just cruising and when not in VTEC. It also sits up nicely so it is not super noticable like a Tanabe Racing Medallion or other big canister muffler.
But if you want something low key, the itr or ctr rear section with custom b piping is a great idea. You will lose a some of the flow compared to a full mandrel bent cat back, but lose some of the noise and looks as well.
Good luck.

Yea because that is queit [/sarcasam]
If you want something quiet, go with the RS*R exhaust. If I had money to spend, I would buy that.

Re: exhaust option for a del sol... (asmallsol)
i have around 500 to spend on the full setup, however, less is better and leaves more money for misc. stuff.
es oval and the magnaflow are pretty much the same.. right?
do you think they are a better option then the ctr/itr?

Re: exhaust option for a del sol... (jbell)
i'd go with the greddy SP or tanabe hyper medallion (the quieter tanabe exhaust). on my del sol i'm runnin a greddy evo.
here is the thread i started a while back that has video/sound clips of my greddy evo exhaust:

No joke the N1 is super loud. I had an orginal old school RS*R on my civic for years. It was stock like quiet and looked great.

Only the best. Magnaflow
I am about to remove the ITR resonator. I'll let you know how it sounds. I did it with my old SE-R back in the days and it sounded nice.

Re: exhaust option for a del sol... (jbell)
Also since the stock ITR muffler isn't a straight through design. it wouldn't be mega loud with out a resonator. Bad side is it doesn't flow as well.
My previous set up was a Benen prototype race resonator which was about 8" long and a es oval. It was mandrel bent and a true 2.5" set up. It was loud but tolerable.
If you want quiet with excellent flow, get the longest magnaflow resonator you can get, or 2 short ones and mate it to a straight through muffler. It will be quiet enough so that you don't get unwanted attention.

Re: exhaust option for a del sol... (b_cruz.)
ok.. so a magnaflow muffler with a large magnaflow resonator, with custom piping from the cat would be the quietest/best bet without being restrictive?

Re: exhaust option for a del sol... (jbell)
I am gonna go with the Greddy SP2 on my car, the tip isn't that big and it sounds quite. The tip is also ovular so it will wit that little cut that the del sol has in the rear. Also I think you can get the whole set up for about 450 dollars or so. O ya, the muffler is set up so it sits up more for better ground clearence.

yes sir.

SMSP makes one of the best 2.5 exhausts with them IMO.
