Exhasut rattling
I just put an Apex'i Sorld Sport Cat-back on my 1997 Honda civic ex coupe, and there is a terrible rattle/squeaking at idle and low engine speed. It sounds like it is coming from under the back seat, is my exhaust rubbing on something, or is one of the pipes not tightened enough??
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Re: Exhasut rattling (Briman2021)
Well, I just put one on my '94 hatch and with the bigger piping it hit the heat shields in the back before the over axle piece. I just jacked it up and could see where the close tolerances were. So I unbolted that piece of exhaust and used a hammer on the heat shield to make some room. I didn't remove it b/c I was a little worried about some lines that run close.
Some other possibilities: The over axle piece rubbing on the lower control arm. And check all the rubber hangers.

Yah... you gotta get under there and look...
but this happened to me a while back... it turned out to be the heatshield on my cat.
I think it was rattling all the time though... not just at idle...
oh well, have fun going under you car...

honestly, how is someone a couple hundred miles away supposed to help with this?

jeez, would it have been so hard to just not reply to this thread??
Also, when i asked this, i figured it might be some common problem that is associated with larger piping, like rubbing on a heat sheild of something.

Re: Exhasut rattling (Briman2021)
seems like this is a common problem with WS's. As G_man said, it's hitting the heild sheild that protects the gas tank. I guess they're bending those "Z" pipes wrong because they ALL do it. I put a stainless steel clamp around the pipe and the sheild to hold them toghether. That worked. Someone else took the heat sheild off and then wrapped that section of pipe with header wrap. That worked too.
