AEM Drum-to-Disc Conversion on Civic EX
Does anyone know anything about this kit? I was under the impression that I would have to get new rear trailing arms, but from the description on this website...http://www.aempower.com/rotor.htm...it doesn't sound like I need to. It says it's 100% bolt on, no drilling or anything. Do I need new trailing arms for this kit too?

actually the AEM kit goes for anywhre between $750 and $800. it is a true bolt on kit that allows you to use your stock trailing arms. in fact, the only reason that most oem rear disc conversions come with the trailing arms is because of convenience. it is a lot easier to just unbolt your old drums on the trailing arms and bolt on the new trailing arm with the discs already attached. everything goes on in one piece and all you have to do is hook up brake lines, e-brake cables, and bleed the system. nice and easy. the aem kits require taking the hub apart and completely removing the drum system from the trailing arm and reassembling all the disc components back on. also, the aem kit uses the big rotors so you will need to use at least 16" wheels and in some cases 17" wheels to clear the rotors and calipers. if you go with the oem rear discs you can still use any wheels you want. and if you really want to you can go to http://www.fastbrakes.com and look at their 11.75" rear disc rotor conversion for even more stopping power. if you do this, dont forget to upgrage the fronts as well, and fastbrakes can help you out with that too. good luck.

ahm... yah.... $750-$800... no...
if you really want to upgrade your brakes, this is what I'm looking at now
check it out... http://www.hybridautomotive.com/parts/
this is all 4 corners for $550 and I believe it comes with everything you need.
However, if you check out the 4 Sale forum... you can get it for less... maybe even 1/2 the price...
you just gotta play the waiting game and then when you see it, don't hesitate because that stuff goes fast.
I know, because one just slipped through my fingers this past weekend.

Re: AEM Drum-to-Disc Conversion on Civic EX (Kitt_Cloud_Kicker)
If I just go with the rear disc converstion with 9.2" rotors...how big are those compared to my front discs. (I apologize for my ignorance, I'm a newbie )
