EX/SI Engine Problem
I have a friend who owns a 99 EX/SI (SOHC) car.
He has no idea how to take care of cars (or himself haha)
So a few months back he comes to me to help him fix his car,
its bogging and wont rev up and no power. The car has a hard time getting to 100km/62miles & cant really go any faster then that. He drove from Toronto (close to Buffalo) to the Rockys a few weeks before and when he drove thru the states
he started getting the problem (and drove all the way and back like this)
So I check the plugs:fine. We changed the air filter and then ended changing the
fuel filter because I know he fills up with no name gas.
So start the car up and it works fine...take it out on the highway and it works great! (Even though the exhaust is cracked)
So he calls me up the other week and hes having the same type of problems.
I tell him to try injector cleaner since it was the fuel filter last time.
Any other ideas? (he is a few hours away at school and wont beable to come see me for a few more weeks)
I was thinking the injectors could need replacing, the cam angle sensor could be messed up or maybe something in the fuel tank.
He also hasnt had any codes come up (but his cluster is aftermarket crap)
Please let me know if you can think of any other problems that could happen from using crap gas etc.
Thanks

Not exactly. In Canada our Si is the same as your EX, and our SiR is the same as your Si, except that the canadian SiRs came with ABS and heated mirrors.

1 q of oil? hmm that sounds like my idiot friend too.
Ill get him to check that out aswell.
Any other ideas?
And his car is a US EX coupe but we changed the badge to SI so
it would fit in with the other canadian SIs....and We have SIRs here
for 99-00 (same as ur SI but with a few extras)

Its kind of a toss up honestly. We got cooler stuff, and JDM clusters are great up here since we're metric anyway, but our cars rust out pretty fast. Honestly we did a lot better on 5th gen civics compared to the US than 6th gens. You could get pretty much anything without airbags, including the Si hatch. And our CXs came with the 102hp D15B7 instead of the 70hp boat anchor that is the D15B8, they were also available with an automatic tranny and power steering, but who wants that anyway.
