Default Ex cluster

I bought a 95 Ex cluster with 145,000 on it and the rpm tech sits at 0 at idle and is a thousand rpms off when it hits red line. But then after a while it will work and read 900 at idle. I don't know if the tech is broke or if i have a sensor fried somewhere. If anyone has had this problem feel free to post thanks

Try tightening the screws on the back of the tach gauge.

I honestly don't know if this would work or not, but it's worth a shot. Did your old cluster have a tach? If it did, and it worked that obviously tells us that something is wrong with this cluster.

I would swap in another cluster (a friends') to make sure it's the cluster or not.
